Howdy all!

I recently obtained a 2001 Ram 2500. So many things have happened to this truck since I've purchased it... New engine block, newly rebuilt transmission and a reman transfer case was put in. So essentially a "new" drivetrain. I've noticed what I think could be an issue with the 47RE and wanted some opinions. It's still under warranty from the transmission shop since the drivetrain has less than 600 miles on it, but I want to learn a bit before contacting them on Monday. Any insight is much appreciated!

So, I found when accelerating normally from 0 to 45, the rpms go all the way about to 2,000 RPM and hold there. The only way the transmission will shift is if I let go of the pedal which allows the transmission to shift into 2nd gear and so on to allow for higher speeds? I find this rather odd. Not my first older diesel, but definitely my first 24 valve.

Another issue I experienced was today where I was going about 40 MPH trying to achieve 45MPH when suddenly there was an RPM loss down to about 1,000 from around almost 2,000 RPM. This happened twice within seconds of each other. My window was down and right after this happened, I could smell something burning. Makes me nervous. My front diff cover (Dana 60) is leaking a bit. It's not weeping. A small drip, but it's there. I don't believe the smell was from this.

Since I put in a new engine block, transmission and transfer case, I've been treating the truck like a baby so to speak. Not beating on it. I've invested a large sum so beating on it is the last thing I want to do. Lol. Thoughts?
