What do you not like about your Ram?

I’m at 44k and have only 2 issues that I experienced. After one hail storm where we were set up in the garage stripping and milling baseboards and trim.Normally they go immediately into the garage. So the 11 Audi and 19 ram were both damaged but the ram was way worse .2nd the need for the trans heater bypass so it isn’t running into damaging temps when towing

I received a free Sirius Guardian service for 1 year from the date of purchase with my '21 Warlock.

While I didn't pay anything to continue the service after the free period, I did continue to receive monthly truck status reports that included mileage and tire pressures.

This monthly report stopped arriving after about 36 months from the date of purchase.

I concluded that Stellantis only pays for the cellular service for approximately 3 years.
I suspect the source of your CarFax SPAM is from elsewhere.

Thats the way I took it, as a spam but not in the spam mail e-mail section. I never open those in the spam section and delete them out weekly by the dozens. When I bought the truck it did come with one year of Sirius, didn't renew.

Do you have state or county inspections? Carfax gets info from state databases. If you have state inspections, the inspector records the mileage.

Do you have it serviced by a mechanic or dealership? Carfax gets info from service providers who choose to report. Notice how it lists oil changes, new tires, etc. on vehicle histories?

With that it's pretty easy to take the last known mileage and then guess the current.

Yes on the state inspection. Bet thats how they got the info. Now TX just checks emissions (OBD port) for codes. No safety checking lights, horn...etc. Simple answer, thanks Doc.

^This. Although I haven't seen an email from carfax in years, I have received them on different vehicles. It was often comical how far off the estimates were.

Same thing with the mailers sent out by local dealers looking for trade-in business. Estimates were always way out of range.

Well, the cruise control was set at 84 mph so it wasn't his fault.

and a minor bug, no locking compartment any where in the truck as in gun safe.

Don, I missed that part, another pet peeve ,Mounties with flashing lights , not that I drive bad, just keeping up with flow.
All the speed limits are 100 km, or 110 on 4 lane roads, about 60-70mph.
The oil is hardy circulating at that speed in the these trucks.
A couple cities I have been in , the speeds seem to increase in them.

I've seen aftermarket solutions to install a secure area in the lower console or in the backseat floor cubbies.
They're often advertised as suitable for handguns, but I have no experience using these devices.

If you have the infloor storage bins you can get locking bin openers that replace the existing non-locking ones for them.

Yes , but then I would have to find somewhere to put all the tools and straps and what not. Bottom of the console would be the best, if I did anything.
I have quad cab so bins under the seat, subwoofer lives in one.

SIL has Ram boxes on his crew cab, but never had a change to check them out, I was always more interested in a large truck box to do truck stuff like haul lumber,
Dad use to haul cows in a 53 Ford 1/2 ton short box step side back when Ford knew how to make a truck.

It was late February in terlingua texas. That was average the trailer had 85 mph tires.Now after the heater bypass it has to be flogged to break 140degrees.

The rear floor is flat in 5th gens. What would be the purpose of a fold flat floor on a floor that's already flat?

I get your point, but I like it for 2 reasons. My dog likes the raised platform, and I use it to store stuff under and still have a “full floor”

Sounds like you’ll need to make something that will work for you and your pooch.

I have looked at that trans bypass and going to get it. Seems it works well and your running cool.

And the HORRIBLE oil filter location. It is extremely difficult to pre-fill the filter and keep it vertical and thread it into position. A simple “flange” or “guide” surrounding the adaptor would resolve that issue. (But they went to a canister/cartridge the following year …so no expectation for improvement otherwise. I’ll have to come up with something on my own.
I know. I know. You can remove the wheel-well liner. Phooey on that.
You can install a remote-location adaptor. Phooey again. (warranty issue)

Came here to say this. I love this new to me truck. Very first U.S.-made vehicle I've ever owned. Reliability & simplicity of maintenance are always at the top of my list... And haven't found anything worthy of that in Ford or Chevy/GM, and DEFINITELY not Chrysler/Dodge (I can certainly understand why Ram separated into its own brand).

But yea, the oil filter placement is cheeks. ALSO... the idea that this engine was designed around 5w-30 oil and a larger filter.... and then they change it to a thinner oil to meet CAFE MPG requirements + change to a smaller filter (.. for what? I don't know. Ease of maintenance?)... is silly to me. But I think the original specs should keep my truck running smoothly to 300k miles (which my Titan had zero issues achieving).

I understand the drive and desire to pre-fill oil filters.

Given the location, I would consider cranking the engine using a flooded-mode start, instead of dealing with the mess.

I periodically use this process after my truck sits for more than 36 hours during the cold winter months.

But, of course... I ALWAYS get the engine up to normal operating temps before changing oil, to drain as quickly as possible & ensure I get as many particulates out as I possibly can. I assume the side-effect is that the top end is still oiled enough 30 min to an hour later when I crank it up the next time.

I am curious what a "flooded-mode start" is, tho??? Flooding the engine with *fuel*?! That doesn't actually start the oil pump in this engine, does it? Or is there something else I'm missing?

There's some pretty good info in this thread....

- I need to look into AlfaOBD, apparently. No clue what the REAL potential of it is, but it seems to unlock a lot of stuff.... potentially auto window opening with remote (unsure if I need a certain trim or other featureset).
- Another thing that I don't have on my Tradesman that would be a "nice to have" is volume & next/prev track buttons. Someone else I this thread mentioned that a Laramie steering wheel was swapped onto their truck (that did NOT originally have those buttons) and they worked after the swap no problem. That could come in handy if I'm in a junk yard one day.
- I'm fairly certain that I've got an exhaust leak at the manifold, as I have the "Hemi Tick" for a minute or so after a cold start (which I think a lot of the complaints are really due to this problem). I've looked at the bolts, but the ones that most commonly break don't LOOK broken. Anyway... others in this thread mention that even replacing with a new manifold will likely lead to another leak. Just resurfacing the manifold with light paint coats (presumably applied with a truly flat surface) and belt sander (and of course replacing the bolts & studs) should likely clear this issue for the long-term).
- And a LEGIT thing I would change, besides moving the oil filter is this. Auto-park with door open is a PITA. This is ingenious....

#1 has an easy fix.

Try a seatbelt extender. It also has the benefit of making the connection or disconnection much easier when wearing a coat or jacket.

I've used a 3" rigid black extender in my current Ram and previous Tundra for many years. There are many cheap imported devices to choose from, but I chose this USA company for their reliability and support. YMMV

“Flooded-mode start” or “clear flood mode”. When using this the injectors are temporarily shut off while the engine spins to prime the oil pump. The oil pump is mechanical and is pumping oil whenever the engine spins. It wasn’t designed for this purpose but some people use it after an oil change. Whether or not there is a benefit has been debated, but I’ve never seen data backing either argument.
