Man this is a great thread.

I read a couple tire size questions earlier and thought I could help.

Ex 275/55/20

275 / 25.4 will give you the width of the tire tread (different than section width) in inches. = 10.82" wide

The next number is the aspect ratio. 55
This is 55% of the width, to determine the height of the sidewall. In other words the height from the ground to the bottom edge of the wheel lip, .. likewise from the top edge of the wheel lip to the top of the tire tread. 10.82 * .55 = 5.95 The tire sidewall will be 5.95" tall.

We have two of those. Top, and Bottom.

Now add your wheel diameter.

So, 5.95 * 2 + 20 = 31.9" The tire overall height / diameter.

275/25.4*.55*2+20 vs. stock 275/25.4*.60*2+20 = 32.99"

The tires are about an inch shorter but remember it's only half that. the other 1/2 will be seen as 'drop' You'd only see 1/2" difference at the wheel lip. Not the full 1" difference thinking wheel hub center.

Hi, new here to the forums...
For those of you who have cut springs on the 2/4 Belltech kit "once already installed in the truck", were you able to somehow cut the coils with the suspension in place or did you have to take them out to then cut them??
I already have the 2/4 installed.

Also, I currently have 275-55-20's Goodyear Eagle Sports with 31.9" overall diameter, would I be OK or do you guys thing I will be rubbing occasionally?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The springs need to be removed from the vehicle, any other method is seriously asking for trouble.

When I had my 3/5 drop with the stock wheels I had no issues. I no longer have my truck... waiting for the 2016 R/T to come out... I miss my truck :emotions122:

Really looking to do this this weekend but not sure how it will work on the front..looks like it should clear. Even with the 284 My fenders are at 35" all around from the ground

Not sure if anyone has answered your question yet, but I will be running that size but on a 22x9 if I can get them mounted up this weekend I'll let you know how they clear. I gave up painting them for now. too much going on and want them on the truck.

I currently have a 2/4 McGaughy and I've thinking about cutting springs to make it a 3/5 but, i am worried about running into rubbing issues and and hitting bump stops. Rubs slightly at full lock turning right on sway bar. Any suggestions is helpful.

Current setup. 305/30R26 with Gianelle Bologna 26x10 +30 offset
These pictures make it look lower. I can get better pictures later

My opinion, Leave it how it is. The balance of wheel VS well gap is perfect. I don't have 26" wheels just 22's and what is assumed to be a 3/5ish drop and I get inner fender contact every now and them. Its better not that I have played with sway bar adjustment and put on rear control arms and stiffened things up a little.

Running a 2/4 on 24's. Have given a little thought on cutting could but I've been hesitant because I don't know what that would do to my clearances and ride.
