4x4 CONVERSION 2005 to 2007

Hello this is my first post.
I have a 2007 ram 1500 5.7 2wd,I am looking to convert it to 4x4 Ive found a 2005 ram 1500 5.7 4x4 forsale with a blown engine. I want to swap over Everything from my 2007 to the 2005. My question is would there be any problems switching over since the 2007 is newer and the 2005 is older electronics etc???? Any info helps thank you

Wouldn't it be easier just to swap the motor into the 4x4.

Wouldn't it be easier just to swap the motor into the 4x4.

This would be the easiest route, the only hiccup you would have is your 07 5.7 has MDS but the 05 does not have a provision for it. Your options here are either pull the heads and swap lifters and solenoids, or leave it as is as long as you don't cam it. Default mode for MDS is off so as long as all the hardware is still there it will function on all 8 cylinders. You may need to use the 05 sensors on the engine so everything plugs in correctly, but otherwise fairly straightforward.

Easily no, but it will; might not be worth the headache because to swap the dash you'd have to remove the CANbus harness and replace it with the 05's PCI bus harness for everything to work right, as well as disconnect the A/C system, etc taking one whole dash out and replacing it with another. You couldn't use your 07 radio/head unit in the 05. Seats are a bolt in as are the door panels.
