Merry Christmas! He left out he swapped to a different trans to handle the power lol.

True true I did but also my stock transmission wasn’t broke when I pulled it, it was still holding well. I beat on that for two years total, 6 months with the stroker. I treat on ramps like a run way for takeoff

I’ve found a used 5.7 for $500 in a single cab. Gonna do the assembly myself. Does FAST make an intake for the 5.7 like they do for the LSX?

Nope. You’re gonna find out quick nobody makes parts like they do for the LS. Being a Hemi guy means dedication because it’s way cheaper to go with any other brand of motor...

Did someone say I could use the 6.1 heads on the stroked 5.7? Cause if they flow better stock then I may just go with those then have to re-work the 5.7 heads

Yes, plus as goofy as it would look, you wouldn't have to change your valve covers. Pricewise compared to a set of eagle 5.7 heads they are generally alot more expensive.

This article breaks it down nicely.

A large majority of gen 3 Hemi parts interchange. But there are countless combos and results. Biggest thing is deciding if you want easy simple swaps or if you don’t mind customizing multiple things to make stuff work

I can fab just bout anything. Just curious if the price difference between getting 5.7 heads re-worked is comparable to just putting on a set of 6.1 heads.

Posting services for are typically $1300-2500. 6.1 heads are hard to find and typically $600-$800 for a set. You could get lucky but it takes patience. 5.7 eagle heads are comparable, $300-$500 for a set but you’ll need new valvecovers 06+ dual coil packs

If I can find a set of 6.1 heads, I think I’ll go with those. According to that article, it’s the best way to get the most rwhp out of a stroked 5.7.

500 wheel hp/tq? That gives me a lot of hope once I get mine completely done. Would you happen to have a dyno graph of that?

Unfortunately when I sold the car about 5 years ago, I gave the new owner all the bits I had ... minus some emblems, lug nuts and some BC Racing coilover extended rebound adjusters (I found the box in my garage after searching for Christmas decorations last week).

I easily dumped about $20000 into the car and most of that was motor/drivetrain (5.7 based, 392 stroker using an Inertia kit with Spartan Plus cam, Eagle Heads ported/polished and larger valves, 6.1 ported intake with 90mm TB, aluminum drive shaft and an SRT rear end with 3.55 gears and Eaton Posi, capped off with a full Wilwood 6/4 piston big brake kit, BC Racing coilovers and Hellwig sway bars). And to answer the question about the Transmission: the NAG1 was built up to handle the power (valve bodies, internals, and an Edge TC). This was after a deployment to Afghanistan so it was a years worth of tax free cash so I spent smartly but bought quality kit.

It was easily an 11 second car with slicks and my pathetic ass behind the wheel. But an experienced drag racer could get it into the mid to high 10s. And it was a pretty easy daily driver, but throttle touchy and very thirsty running on 93 octane.

I would 100% decide on what heads you are using before you order a stroker kit. Then you can select a good compression ratio piston matched to the cylinder head size (there are 3, 85, 74 and 65 cc). That will eliminate the cost of thick .050 or .075 head gaskets to fix an overly high compression ratio from normal pistons. Thick gaskets are $200-$250. Although I paid $170 for good stock thickness cometic gaskets anyways. Now I have to buy a 2nd set for the new heads

I’m thinking the 6.1 heads. From everything that I’ve researched and read, it’s the best bang for my buck. I’m currently running a programmer with the 89 octane program. So if I can get around 10-11.1 compression ratio, I think I’ll be good. What cc piston would I need to get that? I think the 74cc heads would be perfect

Here is what I did for heads..

Scoured Facebook, Craigslist and LXforums for used heads. Found a guy selling a near complete 5.7 09+ engine for $200 with a blown cam. Took me a 3 hour drive but I sold the block to a buddy for $150. So out of pocket I got heads AND valvecovers for $50.

Another Facebook add got me used coil packs for $70

.075 cometic gaskets $240. Save a couple bucks by picking the right piston

Coil pack adapter plugs were $110 from Modern Muscle. Expensive but I couldn’t track down used connectors at a junkyard. They would require you to solder used connectors on, MMX adapters were a simple plug in.

Manley 2.08 intake valves (.030 over stock eagle size) $140 from CNC Motorsports

Manley 1.575 exhaust valves (.010 over stock) $125ish from Inertia Motorsports

Stock 5.7 eagle valvesprings. They were able to handle my mild lift .556/.560 cam. $100 from Inertia Motorsports

Reuse the stock rocker arms

Custom length forged pushrods for eagle head swaps. Yes you need special length rods. $165 from Inertia

So without getting a valvejob yet I’m just alittle over $1000 invested in heads. It is possible to reuse the stock intake also if you want to save money. It’s not perfectly ideal but lots of people use ported heads and the stock intake. Intake swaps add up $$ quick, nothing adapts easily

All depends on final cubic inches, bore size, gasket thickness, stroke length, etc...

Found a stroker kit that would make mine a 394 (.020 over) for $2500. 9.5:1 compression ratio pistons.

It did. I think it was around the 75cc chamber heads or somewhere around that size
