During cold weather warm up my 2006 5.9 Cummins starts to surge when the computer raises the idle speed. I can touch the brake pedal and the idle will slow back down. I first noticed it last winter and it started doing it again this winter. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Thanks, Steve.

Sorry i wish i had the answer mine does the exact same thing. Not sure how many rpm it changes but its not excessive amount more like when you would start a gas the first of day when cold , i hit the accelerator and it goes down, theres just no consistency when this happens

My guess would be idle sensor or something of that nature

That’s interesting. I was wondering if the waist gate control or sensor could be a problem? But I will check into it. Thanks
