Also, the dealer recommends these be changed every 32k miles, but I am not sure how that converts to Kilometers.

1.6 km per/ mile.... I guess at 51,200 km's they should be changed... The dealer told me that I wouldn't need to change mine till around 80,000 km, he said I had platinum plugs, does that sound right or is he full of b/s? I usually change the plugs every 3rd or 4th oil change in my other vehicles (cheap preventative maintenance) but I haven't changed them in my Ram yet.

No problem. We have 11 sets in stock right now, so there are plenty to go around.

Utter and complete B/S. Check your owners manual; it will verify 52,000km with regular NGK copper plugs.
Either your dealer is trying to hose you by having something go wrong after waiting too long to change your plugs or doesn't want/need your business. Scary story either way.

OK, I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but I ran my first Hemi until 141,000 kms then traded trucks. No new plugs, no issues. Next truck I ran to 82,000 kms and sold the truck, again no issues. The Hemi in the car, I changed plugs at about 90,000 kms because of a miss, now at 165000 and still running great. My moto is if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Current truck is at almost 60,000 and the last thing on my mind is changing plugs. On Saturday I drove the truck for 2-3 hours and averaged 20.1 US mpg including two city stops and some heavy traffic on the freeway, then country roads home. I almost always use the cheapest fuel I can find includeing Ethonal.
Edit: I do use XL engine oil additive.

You're dealer told you incorrectly. Good ol copper core plugs.
And don't put plat's in it either, it won't run right.

Good to know, I haven't had them out yet like I said, so I wasn't sure... not sure how sales guys get their information sometimes... :chair:.

There are far more people who have had issues than not. How's that?

I used to work at a parts store, and I would have people all hyped up about buying Bosch Platinum +4 plugs, claiming huge gas savings etc. But the reality is, the electric spark is always going to take the least resistive path... so it's only ever going to ignite against 1 tip at any time.

Common Guys Copper Plugs every 50K Km is a must. The Gap expansion alone will hurt performance and mileage. I appreciate the comments about never changing them but that would not be a Truck or engine I would want to buy Used for sure. Normal maintenance is required and no need to name those parts but then again any vehicle East of Kenora won't last 20 years anyhow unless its stored in a Garage 7 Months of the year. Been there done it.

To the OP, with your climate, If it where me I would only consider changing the plug wires at 120K K or the 4th year mark, but do these new trucks have wires???

Yes a dab of antisieze, and I personnally don't torque them just a tad snug after the squish washer makes Home contact and do the job Bone Cold is best. At 50 K Miles your plugs won't be too brown burn't that they would be hard to remove. Danny

8 year vet of Napa auto parts (3 different cities!). I remember all the BS.
And then the Pulstar plugs, then the E3... What do I run? Whatever came in it. Nickle plated copper core plugs.
