545rfe shift delay

i noticed over the last couple weeks, pretty much since i put the tuner on. anyways, when i shift from park to reverse or from reverse to drive after sitting all day while at work. also, the trans fluid on the dip stick was above full when hot after sitting. yesterday when i left work pulling from a dirt lot onto paved road and accelerating lightly it shifted out of 3 and fell off, rev'd up a bit so i let off and it finally shifted. also i noticed that when i come to a complete stop i can feel it shift back into first, hard, after a couple seconds. there are a lot of people with similar problems doing a google search but they are all for mid 2000's vehicles, not newer.

i bought the truck a few months ago from carmax, do you think that they probably did a flush and filter change with the problematic aftermarket filters and the tuner with the increased line pressure caused the filter to pop off?

Have you tried resetting the tuning to stock just to see what happens?

yes, still the same just less noticable with less line pressure. took to a shop today and did a flush using bg flush kit. they said it was getting pretty nasty. havnt been able to drive it long enough to see if it fixed the problem or not. they looked at the filters and said they were fine.....

Lol what if the fluid was "nasty" as they say the filters should have been changed regardless. To access the filters you have to drop the pan and they did that right so they should been changed.

ya it is still doing it. i called them back and told them it is still doing it. they are looking into it and will get back with me monday. if not ill just burn this fker up and place under warranty, hell maybe the shop will be cool and allow me to pay the difference on a performance trans and still install under warranty?

man I suppose nobody has had this issue on their 4th gen, I guess I am the unlucky one. evidently they didn't drop the pan after talking with them today. their flush machine monitors flow and according to their machine the flow was right where it was supposed to be, but that was flowing one way. they recommended replacing the cooler based upon a possible restriction when the fluid is flowing the opposite direction and causing the delay and I was like uhhh how about no. how about you replace the filters which is a common problem for these transmissions and then we'll go from there.

there are no tsb's for this problem on a 4th gen but was a common problem for the mid 2000's vehicles with these transmissions. then why is that my transmission is doing exactly what that tsb describes minus any dtc's? very frustrating. I think if the filter change to oem doesn't fix this issue, I am probably going to leave it alone and just burn it up and replace under my aftermarket warranty and have it more worth my time and money since I have a deductible.

Yup they are officially dumb or really dont care about anything but a quick buck.

Lol what? A possible restriction? There either is or there is not a restriction. They said it was perfect when flowing the 'right' way. Maybe nobody ever told them fluid in a transmission cooling system ALWAYS flows the same way...

A proper trans service always includes replacing the filter(s). Some cars have an internal screen that is not accessible by just dropping the pan in which case they are only cleaned when there is a problem.
That being said a ram is very easy to change both filters. Need a scan tool to do a quick learn after but any decent garage and especially trans shop will have one.
Also a trans should only ever be flushed under its own power. A machine power flush is not recommended and a reverse flush is a big no no. Ive only ever heard horror stories about reverse flushes.

Well after a flush and filter changed, still doing it. Only difference is that now it's starting to do it in the morning also. One thing I did notice is that it happens more often when I have to reverse then drive forward rather then park so I can just get in and drive forward. Typically when I get in after it has been sitting a long time the first selected gear range doesn't have any hesitation. Also now it is doing it after I have been driving around also where as before it was only doing it after it has been sitting a while. Still no codes.
