The stock resonator look hideous hanging below the truck. It’s driving me crazy.

Has anyone cut off just the resonator but left the stock muffler?

If I could delete the resonator without creating drone I would be happy. Truck would be in eco mode on very rare occasion.

I did that on my 2015 6.4L I had and did it on my 2018 6.4L. There's a little debate on whether it sounds any different and I believe that it does. Not much but a little bit. I don't notice any major drone sounds. Nothing to complain about. In the summer when I run my m/ts you can't hear the slight drone anyway. I had kept my reso from the 2015 so I cut the tail pipe off of that and the 2018 to make a new tail pipe section. On my 15 I just left it kinda dump into the wheel well and it will melt the inner fender liner where the exhaust hits it.

You can clean it off really good and paint it black with VHT high temp flat black paint - can barely even notice it then.

The stock 6.4 muffler is pretty quiet due to the internal flapper - even though it has a larger diameter than the 5.7 muffler, the 6.4 muffler is much quieter than the 5.7. At least when installed on a 5.7.

I put the 6.4 muffler and tailpipe on my 1500 - made the truck go in stealth mode, whisper quiet.
Eventually took the muffler off and went with stock 5.7 muffler with 6.4 tailpipe - cleaned and painted the resonator and tailpipe tip.
This setup is still quieter than the stock 5.7 single setup.

Is the flapper actually inside the muffler or is it just after the muffler in the exhaust pipe like the GM trucks have? I know in the GM trucks you can put a clamp on the flapper and keep it open all the time. Definitely makes the trucks sound better and its damn near a free mod.

I don’t won’t it any louder. It’s primarily for towing our travel trailer. Last thing I want to listen too for hours on end is the exhaust roar.

It's hard to see under the salt and mud but I used high temp flat black engine paint and painted the "new" tailpipe section. It does help hide it

It is inside the muffler, you can see it if you look inside - I think the outlet side but don't quote me on that.
But it is clearly visible if you look in one of the outlets with a light.
