8.4AN Navigation System Map Colors

Is there any way to change the default map colors in the 8.4AN nav system? The route you are navigating is highlighted in a light blue, but the map has a light gray background. They are barely a shade off, with my aging eyes it's useless, I can't distinguish my route unless I'm zoomed all the way in, which I find equally useless to just see my route 100 feet in front of me.

I'm willing to try a hack at this point.

Under settings somewheres in there there's a setting you can change it. Don't remember exactly where its at, it's been a while since I did it.

in my 2016 you can go into settings...then display....and then select themes....there are 5 i believe and they offer some small changes....the biggest change for me is the routing color. The fiat theme offers the greatest difference between the routing color and traffic colors.

Interesting. I doubt this enhancement would be driven by any hardware revisions in the UConnect system, it's almost certainly just a software enhancement.

Would you mind posting back what your UConnect system version is (the most current for 2014 models is 15.26.1), and what your map revision number is?

This might give us a clue as to where that capability is coming from. If anyone can figure out a way to get this map "theme" capability in the 2014's with a software hack that would be tremendous!

You could cover the light sensor on your dash and it should display your maps in "night" mode. Bonus daytime running lights as well...

Day and night modes on the 2014's both suffer from lack of clear distinction on the highlighted route. It's a bit hard to distinguish for someone with good eyesight, let alone someone with poor eyesight like me.

Just simply astounding that something with so much engineering can be let out the door and be compromised by a basic decision like using a light pastel blue to try to highlight a route on a light gray background. I'll never understand how things like this happen.

I'm sure there is way to get the 2016 software on the 2014 units, I believe it's the same 8.4AN UConnect system. It's just a matter of whether anyone can figure it out. It's over my head.

I'm deficient in many areas , but not color blind.

You can change the theme colors in a 2015 also but I haven't check to see if it changes the map. Guess I'm gonna have to go play and see. Not today though as it is snowing once again here in MD....
