I love my '14...I'm very used to the dial shifter, having used it for ~5 months now. It's second nature, and I don't have any other vehicles to drive that would confuse me or make me accidentally reach for the wrong thing.

And I still want my column shift back. :)

Why? No rational reason...just the dial shifter feels wrong. There's nothing about hating change or macho-ness involved; I just wish it was a column shift instead of a knob.

Not everyone who dislikes the knob is being a luddite, or a meathead, or some sort of weirdo. We all have different reasons for liking or disliking it.

We will see more dial shifters in the future, not less.

Do I like it as well? Nope. But I would rather have a dial shifter AND the storage tray than a shift lever without the tray.

The dial solves a big issue for the OEMs...how to create space for the occupants phones, power ports and latte's.[emoji41]

6000 miles on my 2014. No issues so far. Smooth shifting.

Only problems I've had are due to Ram/Fiat/Chrysler IMHO. My truck had the whirling noise in reverse but worked flawlessly but I wanted it noted "just in case".............3 days later I was told it needed to be replaced! OK, wasn't really excited to have my new truck have the tranny replaced but they said it need to be.......... So new trans goes in and all seems well until I get on the interstate. Trans would hang up in 7th if going above 73mph, just would shift into 8th unless I slowed down to 70 mph or tapped the upshift button(this is in regular DRIVE mode mind you). So I go 'round and 'round with the dealership, open a case with Ram Customer Care (ABSOLUTELY USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and not until they drove a new truck on the lot that shifted "without any hang-up in 7th" they finally acknowledged the problem. So my new trans had the valve body replaced and then a MIRACLE happened, trans shifts like a dream and I'm loving my truck again.

My only real gripe is I wish it had paddle shifters, would be nicer than the tiny buttons.

What I don't understand is that where the shifter is now is same position the 4WD knob has been for years. So are there people out there that have tried to turn up the radio and put in 4WD on the highway? Or want to put in 4WD on an icy road and accidentally turn up the heat, creating a sweaty situation? The shifter has not been an issue for me and i don't care if it's a knob, on the column, or in the console as long as it goes in gear and gets me moving.

i don't mind the buttons and for as much as i actually use them it doesn't really affect me much but i do agree paddles would be a lot better
