I hope I can post this here.
My nephew has a 96 dakota 3.9, it would run so long then die, so I done some searching, found a post don't remeber where, but a guy posted a image where he did what we did with spending several hundred to no avail. So he posted an image of having zipped stripped the center wire harness plug in the pcm and that solved his stalling. So, I done the same thing and it stopped stalling for about a week. Then one day I was driving it, on a 20 minute drive, the Dakota would drive for about mile then die, at one point I let it idle down to about 40mph gave it gas and started moving. Then it would die, and have to wait 10 minutes for it to start back up. Once I got where I was going got it started and at first sounds like a lot of rattle under the block, and standing in front sounds like alot rattle in the top of block. Never over heats, and the oil light only came on when it died.
New dist cap, Wires, plugs, Ais,
Any ideas what the issue could be. Only thing i noticed that was odd, I checked the oil level is on point, how ever there was oil all the way up the dipstick, like the oil was rising up the dipstick tube.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
