I have a 97 Dakota SLT with 3.9 V6. Runs fine except for the occasional P0303 I will get to sooner or later.
Locally she does great but if I have to run further than 50 miles or so I get intermittent stalls.
By that I mean the engine cuts off and right back on again. When this first started I thought I had a failing CPS, but the third or forth time I happen to be looking at the speedometer and noticed the fuel level dropped over an eighth of a tank only to raise back up after it reengaged. CPS wouldn't cause that I don't think.
I checked for burn marks on wires around, under, or leading to the fuel pump relay and everything looks OK to me. I would think if it was the relay it would take longer to cool off than a second, but I know enough to tinker on my own stuff and ask when stumped...
I am currently stumped and do not want to start throwing parts at this.
Thanks for looking.
Open to suggestions.
