97 1500 5.2 auto. Drives fine until it warms up, then it wont get out of first gear. If you play with the throttle and the shifter enough it will, sometimes. Any ideas here? And what trans is in it, being that its a 97?

It has a 46re 4spd auto with a lock up torq-converter. You can try adjusting the CTV cable up on the TB make sure its in spec. TO find that info download the 96 FSM found here on RF and read up on how its adjusted. When was the last time the trany was serviced? Might have bad bands in it, might need a full rebuild hard to say.

I checked the cable, it seemed to be proper but I ended up breaking the clip at the tb end 
As for the history of it I cant say for certain, I just bought it in December. The PO said the PPO had replaced it, but there's no documentation on that. It had 200k on it when I got it, I put 3k on it then this started.

Oh that sucks sorry to read that.
Don't know how mech skilled you are but I would say dropping the tranny pan and see what's inside it, also check the bands to see if they are adjusted properly.

Gov. And shif solenoid. Replace those and change filter and fluid and if u know how adjust bands properly......that should prolly fix your prob

No amount of adjusting can fix that. I see a rebuild in your future. On the positive side, if your mechanically inclined, the 46re isn't that hard to rebuild yourself. AND, there are relatively inexpensive kits out there to make them more durable than stock. Don't take those parts back, you will need those for after the internals get rebuilt anyways (never put the old ones back on a fresh trans).

^^^ Yep she is done. There was a Patc auto trany for sale in the RF classifieds you might have a look and see if its still for sale. It would be the last auto trany your truck would ever need.
