Dammit Jay! I was just browsing around here and saw your avatar and now I've wasted 20 minutes just staring at it! What were talking about again?

those gears look to be in very good shape for being used. looks like they were installed correctly as well.

used gears dont have a break in procedure cause they are already broke in...the new ones do....i'd put the used up front and the new in the back so you can break them in properly, you will be using the rear more than the front of course....

hmm, never thought about that. does the front still turn when 4x4 not engaged? and does the break in for the front require 4x4 to be engaged?

I was just saying basically he can't give'er after he installs the gears because he has to break in the front ones
guess i could have worded it differently

Be hard to do since they are two different axles....

NO, they are not the same. They are not the same axle, nor do they turn the same direction.

The front axles turn constantly, but they are not engaged with the differential when it is not in 4wd, therefore your gears will not wear as much.
