Power isn't in the budget, and is one more device that may go wrong. Based on my planned and likely usage, I am considering a single step up at each of the front doors, and possibly another at the back of the bed. Tires and a couple of other things higher priority. Appreciate all the input!

The problem when the power steps quit working is they can be either in or out.

A buddy of mine has a 3/4 Diesel with a 10" lift and when his quit working he stepped out of the cab expecting the power step to be there and it wasn't.

It was a big and surprising first step into the parking lot where he ended up on his knees.

He got rid of them after that. They can be finicky in cold weather and freeze up.
Sorry, but the mental image I got when reading that made me chuckle. I hope your buddy wasn't hurt. I will say it's best to look before stepping somewhere but I understand how it could happen if he was in a hurry.

Best of luck. There are a ton of fixed running boards. Had you asked about that specifically, we could have been able to be a whole lot more focused and useful with our input.

Always love finding out, after going to the trouble of providing input, digging up and posting pictures etc., that the budget is 12 bucks. Wonder what the OP ended up buying.
