AC Compressor

hey guys... so something is wrong with the AC compressor on my 03 1500... the ac works, still cold as ice, but the pulley up in the engine is running a little hard... sounds like grinding...

i replaced the belt this morning and noticed that the pulley on the compressor has a little play in it... not sure if thats how it always was or how its supposed to be, but it is definitely loose....

any ideas?

Sounds like the AC clutch to me.

Probably the bearing behind the ac clutch, if all of the idlers check out.

i watched a few videos regarding the ac clutch and bearing as you guys mentioned... you're all spot on... its definitely one or the other so i may just replace both...

i'll keep you guys posted... thanks for the points in the right direction!

So had to get the truck towed the other day... was getting a worse grinding sound, paired with smoke and sparks... the whole compressor is shot now... so i had to replace the whole thing... fun fun

Yeah they never get better that’s for sure.
