Hi everyone. I’m looking at buying a 2001 Ram 1500. It’s a base model, which I prefer, but it doesn’t have factory A/C, which I really want. So my question is this, can factory A/C components and a control unit be bolted on so to speak, or does it require a lot more in depth work? 1759542414972.jpeg

You could add the parts, probably going to be expensive. Might want to just buy a truck outfitted with AC if that is important. Do a search on the Internet, I saw some older discussions on doing that work and looks like kits with some ( but not all of a couple main parts) of the parts were about $1k about 12 years ago.

^^^^ Good advice there.

Adding AC is going to cost you more than the price of the truck.

I didn't know you could even get a 2nd gen without AC.

You could look into a universal under-dash kit, but it's still going to run you about 1k

How do you get the little yellow “Military” tag by your name?

I retired from the Air Force three years ago after 25 years in. Started in security forces for 8 years, moved to CBRN for 12, and did my last five in logistics. Four deployments and I lost track of the number of TDYs.

My apologies, re-reading I realized what I wrote isn't clear. I meant post in the tread I linked to, not "this" thread. Sorry
