adding backup camera

Hi after getting a quote of close to 1000.00 to install the ram backup camera I purchased a Yada 5" display wireless back up camera. I had it installed quicly and tapped into the reverse light positve and negative cables. Then camera came on with a clear picture but then the display went off and on about every 1 second then went out completely. The tech support at yada said its due to the reverse lights going through the body contol module. Question is how to get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm almost gauranteeing it is due to the wireless monitor/cam set up. I bet if you move the monitor or intenna closer to each other that issue will go away. A multi meter will tell you if you have a solid ground or reverse signal.

use the reverse as a trigger to activate a relay.

do you have either 5 or 8.4" screen? if so you can add any cam to the screen. you just need the dealer to turn on the XAC sales code and install a cam

My dealer qouted me 650 to install the cam. The price for the cam is 299.00 which I was fine with but 650 labor is a little ridiculous. On line I found a site that said the labor should be 2 hours which would be 260. I asked if I do the install what would the labor be and was told they would not do it. I did find a tailgate cam kit on ebay that says it does not require programming. Company is oremorautogroup it is the plug an go intregrated backup camera system. Has anybody heard about it?

do you have a link to the one on ebay?

unless there is some sort of module (like a lockpic) the dealer has to activate the XAC option. even if you buy the factory cam it still has to be turned on.

I installed that one myself on the weekend, works great, no programming.

that module that plugs in is like a lockpic where is no programming is required.

85wrangler- with this unit do you get the grid lines? also do they move when you turn?

It has the grid lines but they don't move while turning.
