Everyone with aftermarket tips of any kind, and specifically Carvens, once you installed them did you do a tac weld like the factory tips are to the clamp?

It occured to me that someone with a 13mm ratchet and in the know about how pricey they are could easily just steal them so what, if anything, is everyone doing to better secure them on?

I'm really thinking of getting mine tac welded to the factory piping for a little added security.

I always have mine welded. A quality aftermarket tip can cost $80+ A perp with a wrench can have it off in parking lot in 2 seconds. We have them cutting out the Cats in 3-4 seconds.

I have the 5inch black carven exhuast tips, but not welded. Honestly the chances of someone stealing exhuast tips are extremely low. If anything, I did buy wheel locks.

why use a 13mm wrench when you can use this? a5a3b91a63dfa63157be6b48508fbb40.jpg

if a thief want your stuff, it will find a way...

That one's battery powered, right? Otherwise...seriously, though, a determined thief will most definitely find a way!

I know if they really want it they'll find a way, but it's just a way of making it a little more difficult than just a single bolt on the clamp. Plus it'll ensure it stays put like the factory one had.

Couldn’t they just unbolt it from the next clamp back towards the muffler?

I suppose so, i haven't looked, but at least that would be a little more difficult to get to.

This would work better than the sawzall I think. Welding has a cleaner look to me so that's what I would do, but not for theft prevention.1534366367819250909665.jpg

Some thief's around here are so stupid they'd bring an electric saw that needed to be plugged in.

I'd be more concerned with the bolts wiggling loose and them falling off. Not that that ever happens.

I got 5" mbrp tips for $400 CAD. I had them welded in place along with the whole flowmaster exhaust Set up. I wasn't thinking about thieves just the fact I wanted everything to stay in place.

mine are welded on only because I cut the factory bell off so I could use a different tip before the Carvens were an option for me.
