I'm currently trying to put a new flow master exhaust system on my truck and ran into a prob. It currently has a cat back exhaust. The problem I ran into is that there is a o2 sensor after my catalytic converter that connects to the pipe on the current exhaust. With the flow master system there is no cut out or anything where the o2 sensor to connect. So my question is...do I have to drill that hole myself and then weld the sensor in or not use the sensor at all??? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You need to reinstall that o2 sensor or your check engine light will come on and stay on.

The only way to eliminate that o2 sensor is find out what ohm's it operates at and place a resistor in the plug. It basically tells the computer that its hooked up and operating fine. I wouldn't do it. I was just throwing it out there.

Alright yea on my old exhaust you can tell that around the sensor it was welded. I'm just curious if there is a threaded insert that gets welded into the pipe so that the sensor can screw in.

Yes. The proper term for that piece is called an o2 ****. You should be able to find one at the local parts store or you can use a cut off tool to remove your old one and weld it to your new pipe after the hole has been cut.

When I put true duals on my truck, and eliminated the cat and Y pipe and all that, I simply bought a pair of header collectors that had the O2 sensor threaded fitting in them, and then cut the cone part off with a hacksaw so that all I had were 2 pieces of pipe with an O2 fitting in each one, then welded one to each exhaust pipe where it connected to the headpipe. Was pretty simple and worked great.

Do you have a welder? can you weld? was this asked already? lol

No-weld O2 Bungs are great...AEM makes them...but they are spendy...like 40 bux each...

You can buy weld ins from places like summit for about 10 bux...

Or...I went to Fastenal and got a bag of 10 Plain Hex Nuts 18mmx1.5 thread. for 10 bux. Then drilled the holes where needed and welded them in place.
