Looking to upgrade my factory hood but want something different than the sport hood. I do like the VIS SRT but just not 100%. Has anyone tried the Reflexxion steel hood? I like the larger cowl but really not able to find any pictures online. Since i have a varraram i will more than likely go with the VIS just thought id get some other opinions before i pull the trigger.

Thanks,
JP

Here is my Amerihood. It still needs to be match painted but I am quite happy with the look and get compliments on it. I would strongly suggest hood pins as another member latch broke when on the highway.

Yeah i read that on several sites where hood pins are required. I really dont want hood pins is why i was thinking steel or aluminum. I do like the look of the amerihood though. Did you install yourself? If so, was it basically plug n play or did you have to modify the hood to get it to fit? Dont really mind the color either. So that could be an expense i could put off for awhile so i dont have to fork all at once. Appreciate the reply.

Its a fiberglass hood so fit is not perfect but acceptable (minor gaps) The wife helped me put it on then I adjusted so two people. I painted it to get through the winter. The hood pins dont look bad to me but that's me. Only thing I would emphasize was inspecting the hood when you receive it. I thought I did but still missed a small hole punched in during shipping. (In my defense it was pouring out and I was late for a apt.)

Yea i see all the vendors that offer an aftermarket hood really emphasize the whole "inspect before you except" which is BS IMO. If i used the same delivery provider to deliver my goods and my customers complained about damaged goods then i think i would find a different provider. For this reason i am very hesitant to spend $1500 on a hood that chances are its going to arrive damaged. At least thats what it sounds like. With that said im still leaning towards the VIS SRT hood. I just wish there was more consumer reviews out there with pics or videos. Appreciate you showing me your ride and the advise.

That RK Sport is probably my favorite but unfortunately it too is fiberglass and not compatible with varraram. Appreciate the response.

I was thinking about a carbon fiber hood myself, but the hood pin requirements for safety is a huge turnoff. Decided not to get one.

If you are still thinking of replacing your hood, amerihood is the best option as far as any fiberglass goes. Its very solid and I've heard a lot of people run it without any pins mainly because its of good quality. I purchased one that was used and luckily it was the same color as my truck. Fit is a 9 of 10. I ended up putting some pins on mine since I do race the truck and on some tracks they require them for after hoods, but the ones I got almost make it look stock with the hood.
