Air Intake Help

Hello Everyone,

I have a 2011 2500 5.7L Hemi. I have read alot about this topic on the forums and I really like what I have read about the Vararam air grabber an the S&B intakes.

One question is do I need to have a Ram Air hood in order to utilize the Vararam intake system?

Also I like to go offroading and mudding so would the S&B be more practical for this because it is enclosed?

The Vararam will work with both the RT hood and the regular hood because it actually pulls all its air from the grille, not the scoops in the RT hood.

As for using it offroad, both will work fine as long as you arent driving through high water. Only time I have seen an issue with the Vararam offroad was from guys that are running though 3' of muddy water. That can get around the seal of the Vararam. If you are driving through that stuff with the S&B, make sure to put the plug on the 2nd air scoop to prevent that sludge from being sucked in through the bottom of the airbox.

Haha the 6.4L is looking less and less likely. I can't even get my 5.7L to work without throwing random ass codes.

I'd love a set, but $1800 for headers isn't gonna happen. ARh is so over priced it's stupid. They're tubes welded to a flange. I already went through all this in the Camaro world, if a $500 set of Texas speed headers can make the same horsepower as ARH.. Why are theres worth 3x the price? Lol (other than they're the only ones making them) I'm gonna hold out til Kooks or someone makes a reasonably priced set. Or I'll just build them, wouldn't be the first time.
But I do need a Vararam, throttle body and a tuner for the '10, truetrac, and a converter.
The I'm gonna start working on some suspension mods for the strip!

If you compare apples to apples the Kooks and the ARH headers are the same price and both are completely ridicules.
