Just wondered about what anyone thinks about getting an intake for the Power Wagon. Some people comment they wake up the 6.4. Others say waste of money. The stock intake tube is so short, it seems like there would be no difference, basically. And I have read the best bet is just dropping in an AFE dry filter into the stock air box for good results. Sure is a lot cheaper. Ive had 4 previous Ram 1500's with the 5.7, and put a K&N intake on all of them, didn't really notice any power gain, just the sound and look was cool. This truck has so much power, plus wit the exhaust I put on, the intake seems pointless. Ive also had a programmer on all my previous Rams, but this truck doesn't seem like it even needs one. I had so many problems with my Diablo i2 on my 2014 Ram 1500, im not even going down that road. Maybe try a Pedal Commander in the future.

Out of a total of four I've installed, I don't think I've ever noticed anything other than a little more noise. They might help in conjunction with other mods like exhaust, but I, personally, won't spend my $$ on another. The PC won't do anything for power, but will make the drive-ability of the truck way better. I've only used it on my EcoD so can't say for the 6.4. I used a tuner on my 6.4 and it did wake up the motor, although I think for what I used it for, a PC might have been just as good on that truck. My 2 cents....

Do you go into dust places and off-road a lot? If so stock is prolly best and cheapest. This is mine in my 5.7 after 1 outing lol. I’ve ran air intakes and never noticed a lick of difference. But they sure look cool

No, dust up here in Northern NY where I live, just snow and lots of salt in the winter. I'm probably just going to leave it stock and drop in an AFE dry filter my next oil change.

I had a pedal commander on a raptor and it helped alot with the throttle lag. But on the power wagon I can tell you my 18 power wagon is nothing like my 2012 raptor there is no lag on the wagon and I dont think it needs it but I would also like to try it for fun on this truck just to see. As for an intake you will only get something out of it performance wise if you have a tune the rest is sound without the tune.

Pedal commander is worth it as a first step in solving unhappy HD truck drivers.
Transmission tune is the next option as these hemis boogie!

Having had both gas and diesel trucks...I'll weigh in.

On my gas trucks and cars, an intake didn't do much...by itself. But after exhaust, headers, and tuning, the intake can make a world of difference. For instance, I had a '98 Grand Prix GTP, and the last thing I did was the intake...and while I can't say it was a night and day difference, it certainly woke that supercharger up!

On my old 6.0's though...an intake did quite a bit to reduce throttle lag. Being that they were freer flowing and had the ability to suck a LOT more air, it got rid of that restriction. Mileage perked up a bit too...when I could keep my foot out of it.

I haven't done anything to the PW yet...I've been too busy, and I've been waiting on the factory warranty to expire. Then it will be looking into what will and what won't affect the Lifetime Maxxcare I bought right before they discontinued it...because I'd REALLY like a Borla or Flowmaster exhaust.
