Hello everyone, I have an 06 Ram 1500 crew cab. When I'm driving and have one of the back windows open the wind makes a thumping affect, which is about as annoying as hearing a Justin Bieber song come on the radio.
Anyway I just wondered if others have this same issue and if so do you know what causes it, and is there a way to stop it (other than closing the window)?

It's Helmholtz Resonance, or referred to as wind buffering. Basically because of the wind going over the open window it's like what happens when you blow over the opening of a bottle.
To stop the noise, crack another window open or throw that Justin Bieber tape out... LOL

Very common, I have same issue on my car ! But if you adjust the windows you can reduce the noise

It's trying to create a vacuum. If you're going to have an exhaust vent there has to be a supply vent to go with it.

I just remembered the first time that i believe i heard it
I was traveling home from a job that took me across the desert floor
It was well into the night hours, the weather was nice enough that i had my windows partially open.
I was on a 60 mile part of the road where there are no ranches & no lights within 2 miles of that road, so it is pretty desolate, it was even stranger that i not see any other vehicles, which is common out there at late night.

I heard a noise like a helicopter & about the same time i noticed a Blue light out across the desert & it was keeping pace with me.

I thought maybe the Highway Patrol helicopter was making a night run, checking for broke down vehicles with people in them.
Or else it was a Flying Saucer !

I stared at the blue light & noticed that it moved with my head movement, i reached to shut my radio off & noticed the light had blinked, that is when i noticed that the overhead console light was shining down on the full floor console & reflecting off the chrome &
reflecting again to the passenger door window.
I pulled over to grab a rag to cover the chrome & i noticed the helicopter noise had disappeared.

I think that i may have sped up a bit to get the rest of the way across the desert & over the mountain.

I can laugh at it all now, BUT ...............
:)
