Sorry in advance for the long post...

I am losing my stuff trying to figure out what is going on with my suspension. I have a 2014 limited and the rear bags are constantly malfunctioning. If I have any weight in the bed, it was even triggered with 6 hay bales the other day, my rear bags bottom out and take 30 minutes or so to reinflate. On the flip side, I put my truck in Off-Road 1 and the bags stayed inflated all weekend hooked up to my trailer, I did this as a test.

This morning, I was taking my dad's 7500W generator, maybe 125lbs, and the bags bottomed out again. Then when I tried to get the suspension into Off-Road 1, I got the message that the Payload was too great for selected ride height.

I have taken my truck to the dealership twice and they are certain it is a leak in the system and can not find the leak. I was under the impression that the system was a closed system. If it is a closed system, it would eventually all leak out and not be able to reinflate.

One mechanic told me it is most likely the control module and that "should" fix the issue. I really do not want to spend $700+ to potentially fix the problem.

My question is, has anybody else experienced this issue or have some trouble shoot ideas for me? This also happens when there is nothing in the truck. It might go a couple days with no issues and then I will have two afternoons in a row of this problem.

Does anybody have any input? The shops I have visited have no clue and I would love to know if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I have been having the same problem s plus the suspension just goes down randomly , and on the highway especially, very dangerous , I replaced the computer module under the drivers seat and that kind of worked for a couple of days / week but then started bottoming out again , then I check the compressor back rear light , I. It iced that the compressor sounds like it has water in it so I hooked up my small Dewalt compressor/ inflated to the outlet valve pipe and set it to deflate , I can hear water coming out of the line , I think the moisture from outside is condensing and blocking the lines in the compressor or valve block . The truck goes up when I suck the air out , and cycle some of the suspension buttons . It works for a while the goes down again it’s definitely a flawed system , I pulled the hose down so that the exhaust side from the compressor was slower than the unit hoping the water can drain instead of flowing back into the valve block and compressor

Also when the tire pressure light is red or below 30 the air suspension won’t turn on or release the valves to the air bags just notice this this morning after it had went down on way home lastnight and it wouldn’t go up their morning , so I blew the tire up to the right pressure and then the truck started to go up again no problems

That is very interesting. Thank you for the response. I have noticed a "percolating" sound from the rear right side sometimes and it might be the air line trying to get water out. That would explain the valves randomly not working and the sporadic functionality of the rear bags.

Thank you for sharing your troubleshooting experience, I would imagine there is some method to drain the moisture from this system. I was always under the impression that it is a nitrogen based closed compression unit, but if it was filled with air at any time, that would introduce moisture for sure.

Did you have a schematic for the air bag system or just tracing lines on your own?

I will share my findings with you and can not thank you enough for sharing! I was afraid, I was the only one with this issue.
