Hey guys, its almost time to pull the trigger and buy a 6 inch suspension lift. My truck is a 2008 1500 laramie edition and I'm looking to get a 6 inch fabtech basic lift kit with the regular shocks. Anyone have any suggestions of why I should or shouldn't get this kit would be great. Also any feed back on the lifts yall run would be helpful too. Thanks

Fabtech is a good choice for a lift. If it were me I would forget the fabtech shocks and order some Bilstein 5100 so you can level the truck after the lift is installed. Also, invest in some steel braided brake lines for the front of the truck.

Get bds or zone way better quality, if I member fabtech puts your cvs at some serious angles, causing them to eventually break
Bds is about 2200, and zone is about 1200. So if money is an issue go with zone, they are the sister company of bds and both kits are awesome. I've seen videos of people jumping their trucks with bds kits

I would like to do the bilstein shocks in the future and the thing I like about the fabtech kit is it has the rear add a leaf so the rear don't squat down while hauling anything. I noticed the zone kit didn't come with that.

I have a 6" FabTech lift on my 2500. I like it a lot. I'd go for the Bilstein shocks for the ride quality. As for BDS, it's a great lift with good quality parts. As for zone they are garbage. Everything about the lift is garbage. There's a good old saying "you get what you pay for".

You are driving a 2500, you don't have IFS so of course fab tech is good for you cause you have no cv axles, as for zone being crap that's bs my buddy beats the hell out of his 06 with a zone lift and has zero issues. But to each their own, just trying to save you money and problems in the long run. As for add a leaf, that's a good idea, maybe do fabtech rear with someone who has better reputation for being strong and not causing issues.

Are yall running the bilstein shocks on the front or rear? And do you have to get a certain length after you do a 6 inch lift.

You will want to get the Billsteins for both the front and rear. These shocks are made for lifted trucks so you don't need worry about that.

Ok thanks. I looked at the bds lift but its a little more than I want to pay. So I guess its between the fabtech kit and the zone kit. After that's done it will 3 inch body lift on top of the 6 inch lift and hopefully 38s, at least that's the plan for now

the ft struts are the same from stock to any size lift and will help keep the truck level after the lift is done... as far as the rear you can get the 5100s in any lift height just have to look at the selection when u go to buy

matter a fact the part number u are looking for is this 33-187228 for rear and 24-186988 for the struts

Thanks for the info. Anybody else have opinions about what lift kit to go with? It will either be fabtech or zone and any advice is much appreciated

hey i made a thread on my lift. i have the zone 6' had it put on 3 weeks ago. with bilstein struts/shocks and bds traction bars. if ur getting blocks get the traction bars. itll ride better and save ur ujoints over time not to mention give it a tuff look. the zone kit is nearly the same thing as bds. u just dont get stainless brake lines and tie rods. the blocks ubolts hardware and brackets are exactly the same. the crossmembers are slightly better on bds. for nearly 700 less the qaulity of the bds stuff may or may not be worth it to u. the bds warranty is better but if ur not hardcore beating the **** out of it i really dont think it matters much. i have zero complaints bout the zone lift so far. my cv angles look ocompletely flat. there is a rear rake with the zone. u could get 3 inch rear blocks insted of the 4 if that bothers u. btw with my 6 on 35s with -24 offset i just barely rub the front bumper plastic bottom valance. would at full lock

one of the things that sucks so far bout the lift/wheels is the loss in power and the fuel mileage. but u got the hemi so ull be better of then me and the 4.7. i was actually thinking of taking the 4' blocks out butting in 3' to level truck. then do 2 inch bodylift to go up a lil more. i like to have as much fedner gap as the rear has now in the front. but adding a spacer to the front now isnt a good idea. go with the zone theyre are plenty of rams on there gallery on there site

Thanks I will have to get on their website and look at the pics. I just like all the things the fabtech lift comes with. I noticed the zone didn't come with the tie rod ends or the add a leaf. That's the only thing that is leaning me towards the fabtech lift. I hope to have one by May.

i beleive u can do an add a leaf with zone. would have to contact them since all theyre stuff is basically the same as bds. it would lift the rear 5 inchs instead of 4 inch blocks. soo u would have more rear rake. i was going to go with fabtech to and get coilovers and everything but since its just a mall crawler i went a lil wallet freindly.
