So, I just had to replace the alternator in my 2004 1500. One of the nuts holding the bracket that is in front of the alternator was completely stripped and i ended up having to bend the bracket to get the nut off. After the alternator was off i got the bracket off, but it is of course bent. My question is, how important is that bracket...i cant really see a purpose for it...will it be okay if i just leave it off?

I'm sure it has a purpose to make sure it's secured... I don't think one should cost too much, could prolly check thru Rock Auto

Awesome...so, I got it bent back into shape, grinded down all the old rust on it, took it to bare metal, then ended up getting it powder coated in black and replaced all the hardware. Looks great.
