Hi all.

Can someone please tell me if I'm supposed to have a hose on the top nipple? I'm going to be shocked if this is normal...

If memory serves, there should be a hose going to an overflow reservoir.

Yes you are missing the hose that goes to the coolant expansion tank.

I know the lower hose (that comes toward the camera) goes to the coolant tank. I've looked at the coolant tank online and it only shows 1 hose going into it. I definitely think there should be a hose on the top one but not sure where it would go. I'd rather just fix it myself instead of taking it to the dealer (who probably did this in the first place).
Really appreciate all the quick replies.

If you look on mine I have a piece sticking out where you’re current hose is. But my hose is actually on top. Maybe pull your hose and make sure it’s really a connection not just a blank nipple like mine?

Looks like somebody installed the hose on the wrong nipple,by the looks of the anti-freeze that's been sprayed around. Was the truck in an accident at one time,i could see a flunky apprentice re-installing the hose on the wrong nipple

Bought it new. No accidents.

About 6 months ago I topped it off with the wrong type off coolant. I didn't add that much but was worried about it, so I took it to the dealer to have it flushed and refilled.
I get the truck home and shine a light in the expansion/overflow tank and I see the yellow/green crap still in there. Take it back the next day and I guess they did it right. I'd rather not go to a dealership again if I can help it lol

Did you pull the hose yet. I’m betting that’s a blank nipple they attached it to.

I have a 16 as well so I will double check after I am off work and post a better picture.

I think that 22hemi13 nailed it though. I can't think of a reason there would be an additional rubber hose. Especially if its below the radiator cap in the pressurized side of the coolant.

As soon as I get free I'm going to check it out. I'll let you all know and post another pic.

My 14 has a blank nipple there as somebody else has already stated. I'm guessing it was an apprentice at the dealer who did your rad flush, and didn't realize that he'd re-installed the hose incorrectly. It looks like it's been losing a bit of anti-freeze by the dried up stuff on the side of the rad. Re-install it correctly then drive it till it's up to operating temp, then let it cool down for a couple hours and pull the dipstick on the overflow tank and double check your anti-freeze level in the tank.

Unbelievable to hear about this happening at a dealership.
