Hey all. I purchased my truck a little over 2 years ago or so. I've put 70,000km or so on it. One of the first things I did when I got it was take the tiny stock mirrors off and install some tow mirrors. The mirrors set off the check engine light a couple weeks in because the ambient temperature sensor was dead. I figured I can live with the lack of temperature reading on the dash and autostart so I left it. Fast forward to now, I've changed my mirrors out and the check engine light it off. I'm noticing it shifts at different speed intervals and just seems to drive differently. The truck only had 50,000km on it at the time of purchase.

So my question is, did I put my truck under unnecessary stress that I should be worried about because i was lazy? Or am I alright. I haven't seen too many posts on the subject regarding possible damage. The truck seems to run fine and I haven't noticed any overheating or issues anything like that.

Thanks for any input and feel free to make fun of my negligence.

The ambient temp sensor is used by the ECM as well to determine outside temp, and set fuel and shift patterns accordingly.

Ambient temp sensor is not causing your truck to run weird. Period.
