hello everyone, I am about to start with my stereo installation in my truck and have some questions, I am putting in a new headunit and 4 new door speakers and i dont want the infinity amp powering them. i have a 600 watt rockford fosgate punch series amp that i want to power them with but im not sure on how to get the speaker wire to the doors. i will either be putting the amp under the drivers seat or the rear seats.

So basically, do i need to run completely new wire to each of the doors or is there a easy place to just splice into the factory speaker wire to go to each door?

My truck doesnt have the infinity amp, so this may not apply to you. But I just ran new wires from my amp up to the factory harness behind the radio. It has worked for me on a couple of vehicles now; it may not be the best way but it beats running wires through the doors.

I would run new wires straight to the speakers. The factory wires are not really rated for high wattage and may fail leading to some cussing and an install redo.

That is easy. Just pull the fuse for the infinity amp. Or if you are removing the radio you can unplug the infinity amp. Here is a link that might help with that in locating the y harness used to power the infinity amp: http://www.kicker.com/sites/default/files/mopar/pdf/KICK35.pdf

The infinity amp and he kicker amps are mounted in the exact same place above the glovebox. No need to remove the amp just unplug the harness and plug the main factory plug back into the back of the radio. Doing this will disable the infinity amp completely.

So since I'm putting in a aftermarket head unit I can't just unplug the fuse?

Seeing as you are installing an aftermarket head-unit it would be better to unplug the harness completely from the infinity amp. Doing this will keep you from having any problems with the install and maybe later with sound issues. Just unplugging the amps fuse might work, but seeing as you have the dash taken apart already then you should unplug the infinity amp.
Now you do not have to take the infinity amp out, nor will you actually have to get to it at all. Just pull the factory wiring out through the hole the radio resides in, and you should see the y harness. If you look at the install link I gave above you should be able to recognize the y harness immediately. Unplug it, push the part that is connected to the infinity amp back into the dash and out of the way, then plug everything into the factories main harness which should still be sticking out of the dash. The infinity amp will be disabled and will not turn on due to the fact that it is no longer getting a turn on signal from the head-unit. For safety and peace of mind you can still unplug the fuse for the amp (which I recommend doing anyways).

Alright cool. Thank you for your help. I don't know what I would do without all of you guys and girls on here. Hopefully I will find enough time this week to do the install!

Good luck and remember the link that I provided may not pertain to your truck completely, but it gives a lot of the info you will need. Have fun and be safe.
