For anyone thinking about getting one of these Ram specific Android HU's. You do retain time and audio info in gauge cluster, this was something I couldn't find anywhere on internet, I had a 10 inch Atoto head unit I really liked, but I was missing functions I wanted. Also they do give an adapter to retain media hub in jumpseat arm rest, but instructions doesn't show where to plug it into back of radio, I didn't really care cause already swapped it out for some fast usb chargers

That setup looks pretty clean! Do you have a link to what you purchased?

I think it's pretty much cheapest way to keep factory settings, keep steering wheel controls, shows climate setting, even has on screen climate controls if have higher trim Ram, retain back up camera, I looked into 8.4 connect with carplay, but no way my wife gonna let me spend that much

If you want to cut the glare down from the glossy screen, I'd see if BroTect has one that fits (or one that can be cut to size). Their matte screen protectors are amazing.

Thanks I'll look into it
I also noticed today that there is a $30 coupon, if you didn't get that when you purchased one could arrange a "return" of the original for the better price...

I saw that specific radio seems to come with an external mic, did you have to run that or was there a way to get it to connect to the factory mic?

I have yet to see any aftermarket radio that can utilize the OEM mics in Rams...

I purchased this one.

Its basically the same, but a bit more ram, memory and layout is for auto AC. It is freak'n amazing compared to the 8.4 AN4 I had. Nothing but problems. This units is like have a PC in my truck. There are MANY, MANY of them, but what sets Rongji apart is the metal back with a fan. That is why I went with Rongji, and it keeps the OEM back up camera and EVEN improves it! The mic, well, still messing around with it. Will probably replace it with this one:

There are a few issues though, mostly petty stuff, but still thoughts. I would like to add that since I installed Nova Launcher, I do not have any more Android Auto hangups...or black screens, it is way more reliable and customizable. Also fixes the Celsius to Fahrenheit issue. Below is from my review on Amazon. However, I still HIGHLY recommend this radio and certainly its support.

A few things I have noticed.
1. I cannot figure out why on earth the OEM micro usb connection doesn't work. I have used the correct connection, but still nothing. This means that I have lost the usb, aux jack, and the sd card slot inside of my arm console. Not a show stopper, but really? Why doesn't this thing work? Its really, really simple and does show some form of laziness on the engineers side.
2. Why didn't they include a cable to connect the onboard satellite that is already on the truck? As I do know it is superior to the one that is included in the kit. Just doesn't makes sense and would have also saved them money and given the consumer a better product.
3. It doesn't always automatically start Android Auto. Well, that's not correct. It does try..but it just hangs up. Not all the time, but probably 50% of the time. All you have to do is drop down the menu and clear it. Then it connects. But why? Also, there are numerous black screens, again, clearing it solves this.
4. The stereo sound is not as good as factory. I have been playing around with it A LOT and still can't get it to sound as good as the OEM radio (Alpine speaker system). Neither do the radio stations...I also miss the subtitles on the radio stations stating what is playing and by who. Sometimes they show it....but it is very small and in white lettering...small white lettering.
5. Still cannot change the Celsius to Fahrenheit. States I have done so, but doesn't change. This can be rectified by loading a Android Auto Head Unit Launcher, such as Vivid Car Launcher, Car Launcher(Pro), AGAMA Car launcher, etc. But you shouldn't have to do this for something so simple.
6. Though there are numerous customization's you can do, making changes to the default desktops is very limited. I am already tired of looking at the females face to the music player on the home screen. I cannot change this. But I am working on this.

Here are a few pics of my AA HU. Still messing around with it, but absolutely love it! Night and day compared to MOPAR head unit, or at least the older ones.

You should look on forums and see if anyone offers root support for it. That may allow you to correct some of the issues. The USB not working is a driver issue. There are companies that make internal replacements for the OEM USB to get it to work (may not be sold separately though).

Is this what you are referring to?

hopfully the quality has changed on those units. Had one in my old veh 3 days after warranty was up it blanked out, they would only give 10% off a new one. Always had issues with streaming music and such on it always doing updates that never fixed the issues.

Why is that adapter plate put the radio so far out? that would drive me nutz

IDK...the adapter plate doesn't bother me. I think it looks very close to factory and looks like it came that way, unless you knew differently. Fingers crossed....I bought a 3 year warranty, so if it sheeeeetz the bed between now and then, I should be good. But so far, I absolutely love it.

Was yours a Rongji and the same brand and make?

Thank you! It worked perfectly tonight!
Awesome! I had only heard of them but you are the first confirmation that the generic USB replacement actually work on the Android head units.

Hi, are the car settings, e.g. mirrors when in reverse, easy driver access or lights delay, etc., retained on this radio?

dziad2580: I am sorry, my truck is certainly not that nice! I only have a Lone Star, and it is a 2014. Someone with a much nicer truck then mine would have to answer that. Sorry. All I can say it that I have not lost any of my oem settings on this radio. I would contact them, as I know their Canbus is specific to each vehicle, I believe.
