I'll start with saying I have searched the forums for an answer but only find people butting heads.
Looking for honest opinions from people that have purchased an extended warranty AFTER driving the truck off the lot.
I own a 2015 1500 with just under 100,000 k/m.
I was told I could purchase an extended warranty after the fact as long as my truck was under 100,000 km. The dealer I purchased the truck from is asking $2100 for 1 yr, $2590 for 2 yr, 3 yr $3240, 5 yr $4775 plus taxes. Is this offer the same for all dealerships? As far as I've read we dont have the luxuries like the US on having options with third parties..?

I dont trust myself to do regular maintenance. (Truck in shop for front and rear axle fluid change at $180 ea tomorrow).
I know some will say its unlikely something will break, but if it does I could have my savings pay for it, or should I let warranty deal with it?.. if anything electronic breaks.. $$$$$$$$.
Thanks.

I purchased my MaxCare about 8 months after buying the truck. But Im in the US....not sure if the prices and plans you quoted are actual Mopar plans or just through the dealer. It makes a difference....if possible the only plan I would ever buy is a Mopar plan. I wouldn't ever buy a third party warranty, so its not a "luxury" IMHO.

But in Canada if all you have is dealer provided warranties, there is nothing wrong with spending the money if you have it (IMHO). At least its peace of mind.

Cant really comment on pricing because, again, Canada.

I think it's a gamble either way. Those prices sound high.

So after getting my truck back from the shop I asked the business manager what sort of plans they offered for extended warranty. I gave him the prices I was quoted from the other dealer and he said he'd be able to take $50 off that price... so looks like they do have wiggle room. I plan on talking to the original dealer again and seeing what they have to offer.

Nothing on line for Canadian pricing ? I have the lifetime bumper to bumper. Dealers were almost double the price of internet pricing. That's here the state's though.

No everything I've seen and read says in order to purchase an extended warranty in Canada you must visit a FCA dealership.

I wouldn't bother with an extended warranty... But that's just how I handle it. I have enough saved that if I have an issue it won't put me in a bad spot. In the long term you will be ahead even if you "lose" on the truck due to a major repair. I've kept 3 recent vehicles well past the end of power train warranty and have had no major issues. The vehicle that would have been closest to paying for a warranty was my 2011 Chrysler van(owned till 146k miles). But even that had only one major $1000 repair and a couple minor ones that might have been covered for another $800 or so. Still less than the warranty and I was able to hold onto the money until I needed the repair. And most of the issues (except the$1000 repair) happened after 100k miles and 5 years old.
