Hello-

I have a 2004 3500 Laramie and I am trying to add some lights to a headache rack in the back and bumper in the front. For switching, I was hoping to use the two empty slots between the heated seat slots on the dash. I had thought it would be pretty simple to find some OEM looking switches to put in the spaces where the blanks are. Turns out I am striking out royally. I have searched all over the web and also called the dealer and haven't found anything yet.

Does anyone know if what I am trying to do it possible or those type of switches exist? Reading on the 4th gens, guys were saying that the entire assembly is one unit on those years and you can't pop out single switches.

The attached pic shows the area I am trying to put the switches. This pic is not my truck, but is the same switches. On mine, the outside two are the heated seats and the middle two are blank.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I just did a quick search. Those switches come out individually so you could pop out the blanks and pop in a switch. However the only switches I can find are heated seats and the sway bar disconnect from a power wagon. You could certainly use one of those to control some lights but you would also need the connector and pigtail to wire it up. And it is going to say heated seat on it.

I doubt there is an aftermarket switch that would fit in there (without modifying the panel). It's pretty specific to that switch snapping in there.

Thank you for the reply. That seems like partially good news at least.

Do you happen to know if the heated seat or sway bar switches are momentary or hold in position? Also, at least for the heated seats, there is a high and low, not off and on. Makes me concerned that they might be momentary and controlled by the computer? I'm no auto electrical genius, so maybe what I am saying/ thinking doesn't make any sense?

Thanks again for the help!

I know for a fact the heated seat switches are momentary. I'm also been looking for the info on the Sway Bar switch if it's momentary or hold in position. I haven't had any luck.
