I got about a year and a half on my Calorstat 192*. The same one Ed linked up above.

So far, so good.

Thank you for this Stevieb92,it seems IMO 2years is practically the lifespan of any of them.I am amazed someone can make vehicles going to the moon but haven't learned to make a decent 180 thermostat, since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.I hate to say this(but),it seems fishy. At least from what I see Stant is reasonably priced..****You don't have a product # for that do you? ******MY Google A.I. keeps floating me different product numbers for Stant.I sent Stant an email on their website, just to ask that same question..
Avoid any T-stat made by Motorad which also makes your Jet T-stat,they'll eventually quit working, and usually alot sooner then you want. The ColorStats Ken and Ed are using have one of the better reps these days.

In all likely hood I think I'm going back to buy restrictor plates in a few minutes.I just cleaning my bird cage first. Those are the only sure fire way to not overheat.I live in the boonies, and everywhere I go will give my truck time to heat up .What size bore are you using,of your friends plates? I'll have 3sizes to choose from, since sell 3 at a time.Maybe you can narrow it down for me...

Start with the smallest 1 first and see how the truck likes it,then make a judgement call on whether you want to go the next size bigger. I ran the middle sized one in my wifes 1320,but it was also spending alot of time on the dragstrip on a little baby 50 shot of nitrous,as my wife raced it every chance she got. I've experimented with them on my basically stock 300 with the 5.7,and it works good with the middle sized one to,but you'll want to start with the smallest one first, and work your way up if it appears to be to much of a restriction

These days sold by a few outfits like 797 Performance,or you can make your own by gutting a factory t-stat
I just wanted to comment about
797 Performance. The Service by there Service Desk,is the best I have ever experienced,by any other Company by far. Ship same day. They take 3 minutes to reply to customer concerns.I had an issue with USPS right off the bat with wrong tracking info and they(USPS,indicating they CANCELLED MY ORDER.. why can a shipper cancel your order???).STRESS producing event for me.I was already having a bad day, yesterday. This was all due to a mistake created by USPS.I am grateful to 797Performance because they straightened everything out immediately, and they answered my email spontaneously.Rock Auto ad example is good too but is usually 24hrs . response time at least, and they usually encourage the customer to use their online tools instead.I encourage anybody who likes being treated like a valued customer to deal with them. They sell many other types of vehicle inventory .The plates were reasonably priced.

@seems fishy, post up your results with the restrictor plates. I'm super-interested to see how they run.

I like the idea of having constant coolant circulation.

My gutless OE 203° stat tripped a CEL a couple times for not reaching temp in time, I'm sure because the hole was too big. But, I'd rather have that than win the head gasket lottery.

It is in snail mail since purchased,it has been sitting in NYC,for a week, according to tracking. When they do arrive ,they send three, each has a different size hole.Instructions say try the middle size first, then either go bigger or smaller if you,are wanting to hone in on what works best.SO,it is experimentation. In the meantime I popped in a180degree thermostat, since I am waiting.I could not find a Colorstat ,(not at RockAuto for my appplication),and that seems to be the best one ,everyone agrees.I am using a Autorad 180 Ultraststat,in the meantime. While ordering at RockAuto,I accidenty also, purchased a 'Failsafe 180',and kept it,but they always fail,I heard.I can't be bothered sending it back however.[I think Autorad has bought every AFTERMARKET thermostat manufacturer BUT Colorstat, and that is why Colorstat is better/it's not made by Autorad]. HOWEVER, it still works after a week .I'd suggest buying yourself the restrictor plates ,in the meantime, they are very reasonably priced. You are living in the USA,you don't have to worry about exchanging Canadian $$$ to American currency .They were 20 bucks USD,free shipping USPS.Cheaper that McDonald's take out meal for 2 with a coupon....IMO.
ALSO, because if you order yours as well ,USPS, you'd get them before I do,since mine seem to be stuck, waiting to cross into Canada.
