Anyone have a shorty antenna that has lasted a few months of car washes? I don't care for am/fm reception, but I want something that looks more sleek and can take a beating in the car wash if needed.
Yes, the one I have is holding up well. See post #10...

VMS Racing has these bullet ones. They telescope to about 12", and there is a bit of reception loss from the shorter length, but they're made pretty solid.

The VMS Racing 50 Caliber Antenna is manufactured completely from T6061 Billet Aluminum and hard anodized for a long lasting finish. Unlike many competitors antennas, the VMS Racing Antennas are made out of 100% CNC Machined billet aluminum, they and not made from a cheap cast aluminum mold, they will not break or chip. The hard anodized finish will prevent the antenna from fading with time. Easy installation, install in minutes without special tools.

I tried out a shorty antenna on my old F150 and it just didn't work very well. That was a few years ago. Anyone make one now that gets good FM reception?
MOPAR makes one. My short one works great. Although I have to be honest because I only turn it on once a month. LOL

I just ordered one and honestly not worried about reception as I use xm and spotify. Just want something to last and not look ugly. I appreciate all the feedback.

I have one those bullet shaped antennas, it looks good and barely works for local stations.
I found the AntennaMastsRus - The Original 6 3/4 Inch Antenna https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M6CAZKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MAtFFbFQSC7R0 works almost as good as the factory mast. It will tune in HD Radio stations most of the way to my buddies house which is 35 miles away, the factory mast starts to lose them about a mile away. I would say there's about a five mile difference between the two and I compare HD reception as it drops faster than regular FM reception.

That 6 3/4 antenna came in the other day and it gets surprising reception. I haven't really traveled much lately, but in town it is just as good as the original antenna. Very impressed so far.

Just got this one in over the weekend. Perfect fit. Just wanted something that will hold up in the car wash. I live in the city and it gets pretty good reception, but that wasn't why I purchased it.

I live in NY and I have the antenna off a 2015 Dodge Dart and have no issues.

Have a shorty but doesn’t get AM - Rush, so its only used to fill the hole going thru carwashes, then OEM back on.

My F-150 antenna was scraping along on my garage door ribs and sounded like a plane crashing. I listen to only one radio station, an FM 45 miles away, so I tuned in that station, removed the antenna, the station sounded the same, so I just cut 6" off the top of the antenna and reinstalled it.

The factory length antennas are often meant to be clearance warnings.

I got a shorty from eBay looks just like the original but only 7" tall and all metal and works great. I had one of those rubber ones that didn't work and then it just broke off one day when I was washing my truck.

I was coming in here to comment I use mine as a clearance indicator in parking garages and on trails!

I got the bullet one as well, just because it looked cool and its fine for radio stations in the city, but definitely degraded quality out in the boons.

That said, its 2020 and commercials suck, so get yourself a bluetooth to aux adapter (make sure its one that automatically turns on and off with USB power and not a battery power one you have to manually turn on each time, like a tunai firefly or similar), ground loop isolator, and use your phone IMO. You can then use any of the myriad of online music apps, or get poweramp and play local files. You can even have your phone automatically switch to a car-based skin like automate on connection to that bluetooth device, for easier use while driving. Good option for those that don't have android auto.

I am looking for one for my 2005 2500. I see a lot on here for the newer models. Any thoughts on one for my older one?
