Is there a way to tap in to the taillights for low amperage LED lights in the bed that the key fob would make come on? Something such as the unlock button, etc. I could add a switch between taillights and LED lights if necessary to avoid them coming on when braking or using the turn signal. I think they only pull 2 amps.

You should be able to using something like this quick splice connector. You could connect a wire going to your bed lights to a taillight wire.

If its easier, you could also splice them into the cargo light wiring. Those come on with the key fob unlock button/when the doors open.

Thanks, yeah I have some of those. I would prefer to keep wiring as close as possible. Was thinking taillight but could also use towing wire harness. I don't need the lights to be on for very long.

If you have the factory bed lights they come with a button switch right there

That kit is available

I would think that if you did a self install of some lights
If you have the electric locking tailgate, you should be able to tie into that wire

The tailgate lock actuator wiring would not work. Both wires are brought to ground and them one side or the other is switched momentarily to positive depending on the lock/unlock command. Any light wired to it would flash on for a second (or less).

Thanks. Would need them to stay on for several seconds. It seems to me that when I hit unlock the taillights are lit for a decent while but I haven't measured it. I also don't want to pop fuses often or burn up a harness. I think the whole strip only pulls 2 amps.
