My idea is that I want to put a toolbox inside the bed, and build a bed out of wood to sleep on over that. The box will serve as support for the head of the bed, and if I need to access it, I'll just slide the wooden bedframe back. I'm also looking to customize a cap that would be suitable for camping purposes: Hooks, lights, electrical outlets, etc. All ideas are welcomed.

Thanks!

I'm trying to picture what you are planning. You want a flush mount toolbox with a bed on top. This will leave room for gear/tools under the bed, and then you will have a camper on top to seal everything off?

If so, that is not going to give you much room to sleep between the bed and the top of the camper. It's going to be tough getting in and out of the bed.

They still sell those carpet kits, I had one in my toyo and loved it. They sell them for the Ram here, just need a camper shell and ur set? Every time I went camping I slept in the camper shell with whatever girlfriend I had at the time, and whoever was with us ended up in the tent.

Bottom piece goes in the slot and makes a bed.

So the difference between that and the carpet kit is yours has a little more room for storage and mine has a little more room for sleeping, and one has compartmentalized storage and one has open storage. One thing to remember as well is when you are sleeping, you can also store any larger items in the cab. I have camped numerous times and I liked having the extra space in the sleeping quarters, especially if you are with your partner. I'd recommend these for anyone, endless good times when you carry your hotel room in your truck. Can easily be made, my only advice would be find a firm foam to go under the carpet.
