For those wondering about the sequential turn signals, I just found this in the listing for the lights on AlphaRex's site:

Feature: The PRO-series headlights come with base model and upgrade model. The base model features a switchback DRL and turn signal light, and the upgrade model comes with the signature activation light feature, which is a sequential light show when you unlock your car, as well as sequential signal light that give you an enhanced style when you change lane or make a turn. Please select the model and feature on the top when you purchase the lights.

That's wrong, though. Its been that way since they first came out and alpha told me that feature is only on the f150 versions. Not sure why they never changed the description.

Agreed. I hoped g2 would have those missing features but it doesn't seem like that is the case.

I put some 6000k katana h7 leds in my lights today, they fit under the cap(I only did low beams). No real testing, cost $46 on Amazon and so far no error codes and my truck is a 13 originally with quad lights and I haven't done alpha. I stuck some $16 pair 9006 Fog leds 6000k in also at same time. I also haven't adjusted these yet. Took drive and are brighter than halogens, has about same cutoff as the halogens also. My camera AI processes photos so need to figure out how to take a unprocessed photo. Instead of creating new posts I am updating this one, these led for $46 are great, zero issues, no codes, no complaints and cutoff is excellent. I turned AI off on my phone and it still processes the photos but not as bad as earlier. Nice crisp white with really no blue, love the look and the cheapo led fog lights match perfect.

I've been creeping this thread for a while and I'm close to pulling the trigger on a set of the OEM look-a-likes.

I currently have the quad headlights on my 2016 Bighorn. I do not have the DRL function either. If I just plug the headlights up will I have the white LED DRL function, if not what color will they light up when my parking lights/headlights come on?

I just ordered the black switchbacks for $440 that were linked here to replace my 2009 quads, should be here to install next Saturday. I'm confused how y'all are putting dust caps back on with LED lights though, as I know heat kills LED more than anything, and with the environment sealed, where is that heat going? To me that seems like trying to run your laptop while in your laptop bag, where sure it has fans, but the hot air can't really escape the small environment.

I was thinking halogens are fine for highs for flash to pass, but am looking for the best 55W HID kit for the lows and should probably get a matching color for the fogs. 4300K would probably be the highest light output I would wager.

All leds lights are under dust cap on these Rams, unless you leave cap off. I was more concerned with the hid lights over time melting/warping the housing. I have seen many installs and rarely see the dust cover off due to leds.

I've used HIDs in all my families and friends vehicles, and never had any issues with melting housings, but that's a great point that the heat is trapped, which while no problem for HIDs because they love heat, is bad for the other LEDs in there.

A 35W kit would make more sense, and should still double the output of halogen. The ballast is also outside the housing, so you have no heat from it to worry about either. And actually since HIDs are more power efficient than halogen, likely output no more heat at twice the brightness either. I've just had poor experiences with LEDs in the past, but then again that's been years ago now, so perhaps they've gotten better.

Nothing scientific here but when comparing heat output, I can touch the back of my LED headlights and they are warm to hot, however touching the back of a halogen bulb, guaranteed burn, so I'm thinking they are not near the heat output and therefore the housing that can handle halogens can handle LEDs..I'm now curious and will use my heat gun next time I have the headlight housings out and compare...

I probably didn't explain my concern very well.

I didn't mean that the housing would be hurt by LEDs, as LEDs are way more efficient than halogens, and its designed to handle those. My concern was that the LED bulb itself would have a diminished lifespan if the heat builds up in the enclosure. LED Sauna-Seppuku!

Halogens and HID bulbs can run super hot all day and night, doesn't phase them a bit, but LEDs are notorious for hating heat. That's why, back in the day at least, the LED headlight bulbs tended to have issues, and it was important to pull the heat sink "net" deal through the dust cover out to the open air and spread them out a bit at least on other vehicles, since that ensured the LED could run cool and keep them from dying every 6 months. And the passive cooled ones were preferred for reliability since you didn't run into issues with the fans dying or slowing down over time and in turn again killing the LED bulb.

I put off led headlights in any car until this year, I have used led fog lights, license plate and backup but none with fans in all my vehicles. Never trusted led headlights, but I did a lot of research and found what others had tried, the katana led is one that gets great reviews on here and in general(rebranded under some other brands at $100-175, so guess I will see. One thing I did read, if you use high beams a lot, do led in both, or the heat generated from halogen or hid can overheat the led. I only put the leds in low beams, but I rarely use high beams so no worries there. Also make sure there is a space, not touching dust cover.

Is Hakari one of the Katana re-brands? I can find the 9012's for the factory projectors from Hakari, but not from Katana. All my searches for Katana 9012 keep bringing up the Hakari ones.

These are the LEDs I have been using in all my vehicles. Never have had a problem with them. They have been in my wife’s car for going on 3 years with no problems. Had them in my 2008 escape for over 4 years and never had a problem with burnt out or over heating.

I think the katana are same as the supernova v4 leds that cost $170-200, look identical. Geesh just seen the katana 9006 led for $22 free shipping open box, but I just bought some other high power 9006 leds. So far been really happy with these h7 katana led, cutoff is like halogen in my projectors and they are so white, no yellow or blue at all. I felt outside of headlight after letting truck sit idling for 30 mins and wasn't even hot, maybe 70 degrees. Now debating if I want to buy the katana 9006 and see if my other vehicles can use the other 9006 I have on way. I am pretty sure a 9012 and 9006 are very simular, I seen on YouTube people cut one piece of tab off with a dremel tool and the 9006 fit perfect in the 9012 and both have same connectors. I did same thing on my quad lights, bought different bulb and cut tab to fit, zero issues.

Is this all I need for the full swap ?

-- Modify Street 2019 Dual Projector Headlights
-- 2 Pair of the Hikari Ultra LED H7 bulbs

Do I need 2 pair of the Hikari LED Conversion Canbus Anti Flickering Resister Decoder H7 harness?

Do I need the AlfaOBD adapter/software?

Mine is 2010 Sport with oem quads no DRL
