2014 with 65k. Noise started once it got cold out. Temp gunned both bearings and spun each tire by hand...no noise or defects. Front end is tight and aligned. Rotated the tires and no change. It's from the front left tire and is directly linked to rotation. No noise difference in turns like a bearing or CV shaft. Even drained the front diff looking for metal shavings...still nothing. I'm at a loss! And I'm a freaking mechanic albeit on aircraft.

I hear something similar on deceleration while in 4 hi . Haven’t tried to see if it is there in 4- low. I have heard of some guys having to replace hubs.

Just replaced my right front hub assembly this weekend. Had slight vibrations that would come and go at highway speeds for a couple months then this past week I heard a slight squeak a few times when I would turn to the right and also started hearing a whirring noise that would come and go at highway speeds. Finally checked this past weekend and the right front hub was shot.

I have a timken hub sitting in the garage. Might throw one at it tomorrow since it'll be warm. Some guys said they had to completely remove the cv axle to get to the hub bolts. I've never had to do that before. I always remove the nut and tap the spline shaft out. Did you encounter any issues?

I removed the upper control arm and tie rod end from the spindle which allowed the axle to come out of the hub enough to get a ratchet and socket on the bolts. There was a decent amount of rust on my hub bolts, so it took several hits from the impact before they came out. Overall, it wasnt too bad of a process, just make sure you have the right tools to do it. But if your an aircraft mechanic, I doubt thats an issue. My dad helped me do mine and its definitely helpful to have an extra set of hands to hold the axle out of the way while you’re loosening/tightening the hub bolts.

Ended up not having to do all that. 18mm swivel socket got the job done. Reinstall was actually more difficult because the spline shaft wants to spring back into the hub. Took me 45 minutes. Couldn't believe the amount of corrosion on a 4 year old truck. Gotta love the rust belt

Did you fix it. I had a 11 1500 with some noise from the front end. Ended up being my front drive shaft. The u joint that connected to my transfer case almost got ripped out. It was clanking only a little bit while driving.
