Hi all, first time with a Dodge and not doing so well and second guessing my discussion on buying it. Overall I do like the truck but I have the torque converter noise and the mineral gray paint has “blotches” on the hood.

With 1600 miles on it I brought t to the dealer 2 days ago and since the T.C. did not register an error code the dealer said nothing is wrong the T.C.. I even brought the star report so he can see the issue, just in case he was not aware of it.

The blotches are just were the metallic did not spray even and there is nothing they can do about that.

So I am asking if you have any suggestions on how to proceed?

welcome to RF. I agree if you can go to a different dealer.

Yup, different dealer and call Daimler Customer Service, that will get the dealer involved. If you have a copy of the Star sheet, and the noise is there in the TC, it should be replaced. It's only noise, I agree you'd hate it, but no mechanical issues are known with this issue. Just the annoying sound.
Paint should be covered by the warranty.

I wouldnt second guess your purchase. New cars are man made. While aggravating, things happen. Chevy has recalls, I've already read of motors locking up on new GM trucks. Ford has recall issues. It happens. It's not what really happens, it's how well your taken care of. If your dealer doesnt want to help, look for another. Some want your business, and they know they have to earn it. You loved the purchase, you will again. Get the TC changed and life will be good. maybe visit the bodyshop of the dealer ( the good one )and have those guys look at it. If they see the factory blemishes, they will help push to get Dodge to cover it...it's warranty work.

I wish it was that easy, but the other two dealers are an hour away. I have been thinking about calling Dodge customer support, but I would hate to get my local dealer pissed at me.

Do you know if it is common for a dealer to check for software up-dates when a customer has problems? When I asked my dealer if they checked, he said no, there is no error codes so why up-date.

The one saving grace is I have a Lifetime Unlimited mileage warranty on the mechanical.

I'd rather have a pissed off dealer than have problems like that with a new truck. Dealers are a dime a dozen.

is this the same dealer your purchased from? If so, go back and see your salesman, he may help get some pull in the Service center. If you try again and they dont succeed, then tell them you have no other step but to call Dodge and report the issue, and the problems they are not helping resolve. Most dealers do NOT want a black mark with Daimler.

Yeah don't worry about ******* off the dealer. The worst thing that will happen is you will gain the reputation of being that guy that isn't scared to call Chrysler, so next time you have an issue ( if there is a next time) they won't blow you off.

Thanks for the suggestions and yes this is the same dealer I purchased the truck from. I have to bring it back in a few days to have the fan knob replaced. At that time I will ask the service manager to do a ride along, so he can hear it for himself and talk one on one about the paint.

If they say sorry again I will say sorry to them and call Daimler Customer Service.

Welcome to the forum. :)

I actually had my dealer point out a flaw to me in my paint and offer to fix it under warranty, so your paint issue should definitely be covered under warranty also.

Before you get into the paint make sure you get it clean and in direct sunlight, and look it over at different angles. Florescent lighting will not show the spots, get it outside and look it over real good. I have spot on three different panels. Everytime I thought I had discovered them all I would find another problem...
Dodge will repaint the affected areas, no problem there. I just can't decide if I should proceed with the painting, am leary of shading issues. Good Luck

Ram customer service was easy to work with, and have talked with my dealer a couple times to resolve issues. All they can do is suggest since your dealer is privately owned. They sure take there sweet ass time though.

Call chrysler, and also like everyone else says, find a better dealership that will resolve your problem(s) Then if you dont get anywhere, call chrysler again and tell them you`ll talk to a lawyer and see what you can do about taking legal action against them. You`d be very surprised how fast that gets their undivided attention.
I would try some mothers or maguires claybar on the paint where your issue is at. I had the same issue with my truck when i bought it brand new, the claybar took care of it so fast that i couldnt believe it, so i claybar`d the rest of the truck after doing my hood. Now the paint looks great and smooth as a baby`s a......... But i`ll tell ya, thats ALOTTA truck to claybar and then wax the fukken thing after claybaring it...lol.
