A couple weeks ago when it was like -5F for a few days, I tried to start my truck for the first time in a week and the gas lines were frozen. Like a drunk idiot, I gave it a second, and third try. Some smoke came from under the hood and I gave up.

One week later it's 50 outside so I start it up and it takes like 5-6 turn overs to finally get going, with inside dome lights going full-retard. This truck has been sitting in my driveway 6 months but has always started right up with 1-2 turns of the crank.

So it's been around 20 for a week and I go to start it... Very very weak turnover, lights flickering like crazy, won't start... Did I burn out my alternator?

Charge your batt, check and clean all your terminals, grounds, find out what was melting/smoking and fix it.

SOLVED. Room mate just got home and it started right up just like new with his battery pack. The battery gauge always reads at least 60% so I figured it had lots of juice. Also my last ride was an integra so if there wasn't enough power to start it up the radio wouldn't even turn on. Guess it takes a lot more to start a 5.9 vs a 1.8 huh?? This is how we learn..... Thank you Merc:rockit:
