Anyone have any experience using these boxes??

The price is right, but is it junk?

They are great, I have had 2 pairs of them. Surprisingly good quality for the price.

Right now its a toss up between QPower or ATrend.
Both are around the same price...
Just wish they made an 8'' box.
I don't want a 10'' sub but am forced to buy one to fit the box

Pretty sure Atrend makes boxes for an 8" and if you can't find one contact them I'm sure it wouldn't take much to make it happen for you.
On the note of quality, I ran Atrend before making my own boxes and they really do make a nice enclosure. Things I would do to make them a bit better is resign all the corners on the inside of the box to make 100% sure there are no air leaks.

Qpower uses 5/8 mdf, atrend uses 3/4. What size are you looking for and what subs are you working with?
Post some info others might be able to help.

I haven't bought a sub yet.
Im going to go with either a Kicker or Fosgate 8'' or 10''.
Its all still in the works right now.

I wanted to go with an 8'' mainly because kids ride in the back seat and I don't want their brain rattling because theres a subwoofer under their butt.
Im not trying to shake the neighbors windows either. (that's what the teenage years were for)

Also, the QPower boxes say they have 0.65 Cu. Ft. of airspace while the ATrend have 0.85 Cu. Ft. of airspace.
I want the most airspace possible, but also don't want the sub hitting against the bottom of my seat.

Wow, look at that foam.
That thing would definitely hit the bottom of my seat.

If I wasn't concerned about it rubbing against my seat I would be interested.

It looks like a beast.

it acually isn't bad it has less than 10mm of xmax so as long as the box isnt to tall it would work out perfect. There is also a VVX that has 16mm of xmax but that is awefully deep sub for an 8in.

I bought one recently. $41 shipped from Amazon! :)

They look great! Unfortunately I don't even think it's real MDF, at least not what I'm used to. Seems lighter and softer, but still is fine. 10" Sub ain't going to flex it.
But my real issue is leaks. slightly pushing the sub allows you to hear them. I want to reseal it but the box section is only about 2" high, and can't get back there to do it.

So, it's still a deal, but a leaky box is no bueno.

Having said that I've listened to 2 others in Ford trucks and they POUND. Well tuned systems to get there, but the box is not the weak link.

My .02.

Just go with a 10". You will get a better lower end response and 1-10" isn't going to rattle any windows, plus you can always turn the gain down a bit if it's too much.

I doubt there would be a drastic difference In the two enclosures you listed so I'd go with whichever one has the most optimal airspace for the sub you choose.

Edit: just noticed ur in central. Ur right down the road from me.

You could stand the box up right and pour some fiberglass resin down in there to seal up the leaks you can't reach.

I was thinking a long stick, flashlight and just liquid nails. Hate having to do that on a purchased product, but it was dirt cheap.

Exactly. 10" will go better with the four 6x9's in the doors, play lower and if it seems like too much bass, just turn the sub amp down a bit.

These guys have it on the 10s, 8s are cool but you need a couple of them to really get a sub feel out of them.

I'll go with Brad on the 10, you want those low frequencies. Many people think subs are going to sound like those kids in the ricers driving by. Though they can sound like that, when balanced within the system it is pure listening joy.

Keep in mind the Atrend is kind of shallow. A lot of reviews people had trouble fitting their 10's. And not just in depth but the hole is a bit on the small side as well. I used an old school Polk DB10 circa 1997 and it fit flawlessly, actually had to use some slight pressure to mount it.

Something to keep in mind.

Ok, Lil update on what was ordered.

I went with the Atrend box with mounting depth at 6.75''. ($70)

Went with a Kicker Comp VR 10'' that mounts 5.5'' deep ($90)
and handles 400 watts RMS.

Then, a Kicker 12CX600.1 Amplifier. Which is rated at ($209)
600 watts @ 1-ohm.

The amp is a lil overpowered, but now I have to option to turn the gain up or down
to best suit the sub.
Thanks for the input fellas and please let me know if yall have any other suggestions
on the setup.

That amps not overpowered for the sub at all. Most speakers will handle more power then their rating if crossed over properly and it's not a constant 600 watts anyway. It's perfect really. No such thing as too much power in audio! :) I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how well this all comes together. Is the sub the 2ohm model?
