Back lit grill emblem

cool. my biggest issue is how im gonna get it to flex to the shape of the emblem and bumper. slight curve to it.

heat and use the black piece as a template? just heat it up a little and press against the black one until it cools, should work

so i found this. had seen it before and it's what kinda gave me the idea to try this. from the pictures i can't tell if the plexi(or whatever he used) is curved or not. from the back it doesn't from the front it kinda does. the eyes are cool. but don't like giving the ram a "deer in the headlights" look. if there was a way to cut out with the angles of the eyes on the emblem and not just round circles, i would try that too. baby steps i guess lol. i did email the guy to see how he did the plexi, the thread doesn't explain how, so we'll see if he answers me.

he said he used the emblems off the trucks, so thats in scale. I would like to see how he did the background

ok so i think im going to abandon the plexi glass idea. saw last night were a guy did a nissan emblem. dremeled out the letters and filled it with epoxy. cuz the propane torch ain't cuttin it.

so i borrowed my uncles toaster oven and well....... trial and error right. they make it look so damn easy on you tube.

ha ha. looks like you had it a little to warm. why did you stick the black piece in there? you should have left it out, Warmed the plexi up took it out and pressed it againdt the black piece to mold it.

that's how i did it the first time and it pulled when went to take it out. putting the black piece in the second time and it worked a lot better actually. yeah the bubbles suck, might look kinda cool lit tho. if i can get it to fit in the silver part the way the black back does, im gonna either sand it or vht it or both. the vht so it will look dark until i hit it with light

trust me so am i. argued with my dad for an hour this morning about how to do it. he was insistent on baking the plexi. so that way will be tried first.

second one i did with the black piece in the toaster too. used a plastic know to push down on the plexi around the black piece so the edges were more defined. gonna take it with me to my dads tomorrow to cut it out. i can't find the tips for my dremmel and the one i have just doesn't work at all. hard to get nice edges.

ok so i got the new piece cut out tonight. didn't do to bad of a job, but it's gonna be hidden so i wasn't to concerned about it.
