Backup camera crapping out? Already?

So I’ve gotten this twice in the last 2 days. Then goes away. Anyone had this experience? Wondering if it’s just a loose connection or if it’s the actual camera going out.

Happened to me a couple weeks ago right after a hard rain. That was the first time and only time it’s happened. But like you guys I have no idea why.

It happened to me last year. The camera and wiring had to be replaced.

Sometime it’s as simple as a loose connection in the tailgate, other times wiring harness. Camera is usually replaced as a precaution. Will happen intermittently. Give the tailgate a slight pop with you’re hand, it’ll resolve.

Easy fix for dealer. Hope you’re under warranty.

Happened to me this week. I was in the dealer to have my LED turn signal replaced. I asked the rep if they heard anything about this issue. He said more than likely its not the camera, but the radio itself.

Good to hear. He mentioned they've replaced about 10 head units this year. Hope you are right, no bueno!

I had to do two replacements for the previous ram I owned. I am well acquainted with the problem.

If they are replacing the head unit it is a money grab.

Today it went black. I put it in Park it was black. I messed with the radio a little then I put it in park and tapped the handle where the camera is a little. Then it worked. It’s been hot here 95-100’s seems to happen when it’s hot out. Works fine in the morning 3-4 am when I leave for work. Hopefully it’s a loose connection. I’m so busy I don’t have time to take it to the dealer for days. I do need to take it for the cruise control recall though.

It did it again today. Seems to happen when it’s hot out. This time it looked worse. But again when I tapped the camera area a little it came back on. I made an appointment tomorrow to take it in for this and the Cruise control recall. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.

Just got a call from the dealer, they are replacing the camera and harness.

They had to replace my wife's camera on her 2014 Charger, said internal short

mine does this ntermittently as well,
when I was under the bumper to bumper it was repaired 2 times, most of time I noticed it after a heavy rain.
now I don't worry about it, as I prefer to use mirrors anyway.

The dealer called at 5:55 said it’s ready to pickup. They close at 6. Go figure. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again . I’ve only got 6,000 miles on the dang thing.
