Quick question

Can our 4th gen Rams (1500) with projectors run 55w ballasts
Or do we need to run 35s with our canbus systems?

I have a 2015 bighorn and I have new lights with upgraded FXR projectors installed

Just curious if 55 would be a no no

I have a set in right now
And one went out today...

Here's what happens.

My drivers side projector went out (only projector) so I troubleshoot by testing bulb first and then ballast

I moved bulb to passenger side. Worked there.
Moved ballast to passenger side,
It didn't work.

So my conclusion is ballast is dead.

Now I plug the ballast back in on the original side and it turns on.

Then, after about 30 seconds goes off and stays off.
Until I turn truck off for about 10 mins and then it'll do the same. On for a few seconds and then off.

I'm thinking the ballast is on its last leg and can't hold the charge anymore?

Quick question

I ran 55 without issue. Are they can bus ballasts or are you running a relay with resistors and such? You may have a failing resistor or bad ground.

I've been running 55 watt HIDs for over two years in my oem projectors with zero issues.

I am running a kit from retro shop that Jeremy set me up with.

I think I've come to the conclusion that it might be a faulty igniter.

Gonna test the good one tomorrow

Check your grounds too while checking the rest of the harness.

Bypass the canbus adapter.. aka remove it.. if the light goes on thats your issue. However you will need to replace it, without it the car thinks the bulb is out and it cuts power to it.

Typically those go way more often.. and the ballasts almost last forever. Knock on wood...

If anyone has a problem like this
I'd just like to say that my fix was a new igniter for my morimoto 55w ballasts and bulb.
