So here goes an observation. When I park nose into the front of my garage door the truck starts beeping as I get closer. When I go to leave I start the truck put it in reverse, it starts beeping like I am going to crash. If I back into the garage door it beeps as I get closer. Then I start it and go into drive it never beeps.

So why would it beep when I start it put it in reverse it beeps, but when I back in and put it in drive it does not? Anyway just a strange behavior, I figured I would share on a Saturday night.

It's a proximity sensor. It doesn't care what gear your in.

I understand that. The observation is: when I pull in stop for the night or how ever long I restart it place it in reverse to back away from the door. It beeps like I am about to hit it.

If I back in to about the same spot, stop for how ever long, start it put it in drive it does not beep once.

If it did the same amount of beeping I would agree with not caring what gear I am in more.

Is your driveway sloped? When your backing out the slope where your driveway meets the street is causing the sensors to go off because the truck thinks it’s going to hit the street. It’s explained in the owners manual. I have the same problem when I visit my mother and a few other places. If your going fast enough the emergency braking feature will slam on the brakes in reverse and it sounds horrible!

Yes my driveway is sloped, but the road is 160 or so feet away. The angle from parking forward to backwards does not change on the apron. The first few times it did this I got out and walked around the truck to make sure I wasn't going to hit something. Then I noticed on the dash a picture of the truck with the front sensors showing I was about to hit something even while I started backing up.

When I back in it does not do it at all, no picture of the truck or anything when I restart it and pull away

It is just strange.

Turn them off until you're out of the garage. I have my front ones turned off because I've been too lazy to move my light bar on my bumper. The back ones I turn off when towing the boat.

I can't park in my garage currently, I have a 68 Mustang project in one bay, and a full on woodworking shop in the other. I am building cabinets for my new kitchen. So my trucks sit out side.

To each their own but I find them too annoying to leave on. Mine are off and stay off unless I’m negotiating my way into/out of a tight parking spot. That does not include my garage even though it’s a tight fit. I put up a big convex mirror to watch my nose and side while pulling in.

I listened to the beeping for ages, every time I backed into the small barn in my avatar.

I finally got sick of having the interruptions of the tunes every time I was parking or buying gas.

The Park Sense stays off on my truck.

It's as annoying as a beeping alarm clock that won't quit.

Now, if I could only get rid of the warning chime, every time the transmission changes state.

So if I am reading this correctly, I can turn them off, and they won't turn themselves back on. Now I am going to have to go fid that setting. Thanks

Because when you are in reverse, the front sensors are still going to alert you to objects in front of you and to the front sides, in case you are going to cut the wheel while backing up.
When you back in, then put it in drive to leave, there are no objects in front of you for the front sensors to pick up.

What I would really like to do is turn DOWN the blind spot noise. In unconnect settings it is on, off, audio and visual or visual only. No way to lower volume which is strange as you can do that for sensors etc. Am I missing something here? That one REALLY makes me nervous, every time two lanes of traffic turn together at a light it blares at me if I have my indicator on. I am NOT gonna turn into the other turning lane, I know he’s there. A gentle reminder not a noise so loud I jump every time!

The camera doesn’t recognize the angle of the slope and the sensors recognize it as an approaching object.

While OP has a 5th Gen and I have a 4th Gen I thought I would try this on
my errand run today. My 2014 1500 Laramie-trim has the sensors, although all
things considered, differences could be seen.

My truck behaved the same as OP's and several others here. I also tested the buttons on the panel, the ones that deactivate the sensors. I turned-off the sensors, then turned-off the ignition and parked and got out. When I got back and started the truck the sensors were still turned-off. I don't know how long this will last or what might reset and reactivate these sensors, but it worked for this test.

My rear Park Sense has been disabled for months and has not reset itself.

I turned mine off the first time I started backing out of my driveway and it put the brakes on because of the car I had parked in the street right next to the driveway. Only time I'd ever turn them on again would be if I had to parallel park, which having a crew cab with long bed is something I stay away from. LOL
