Generally I say try to find one from your year but it's not absolutely necessary. I have a 2013 cluster in my 2014 Ram with no issues but I have heard 2013 clusters don't play well in other years. I did have problems with a 2019 cluster in my truck having a flashing "P" on the park indicator.

Unfortunately regardless of year they are all generally the same price but you may be able to bargain on condition and make it look like new with a new lens and mask.

I’ve already purchased used part from junkyard almost exactly same truck as mine, only difference is a quad cab not full, and 6’4” bed. Got tons off issues with this car like right tailgate parking light is out, left isn’t working at all in the morning… hard shifting…. Etc… 2015 is worst for ram ;/ only 100k since yesterday
