Still trying to find my way around here. Anyone know of any good ways to plasti-dip the badges and letter badges on my truck without getting it on the paint? I know plastic dip is easy to get off but how should I go about removing it if I just have to spray the plastic dip over it? Or know tutorials for it?

Thanks

Search around here a bit and you'll find it several times.....but until you find it, I just did the grill and all badges on mine.

Tape off about an inch or two on the outer perimeter of the badges/letters and spray 3-4 good coats of plasti-dip. I also papered off the outer of the taped off are just to keep the overspray at a minimum. Once it's dried(an hour or so) use fingernail or plastic toothpick to grab edges and peel at a 45. Plastic toothpick works great for the small areas between letters. Make sure to spray the dip in all different angles for good coverage.

When you tape off the area around the badges and lettering, leave some room so that you DO get plasti-dip on the actually paint of the truck. That's not a typo lol. Just do around 5 or 6 coats of the plasti-dip and it peels right off the truck paint but stays on the emblems. Here are the pics from my plasti-dip project that I did last week. You can see the amount of paint I left open. That paint all got plasti-dipped and then I just peeled the stuff right off afterwards. Now the paint looks like it was never plasti-dipped and my badges look awesome!!

Hope this all helps.

I left the red lettering of the Hemi badge stock because I liked the red look. Just covered it with painters tape so no plasti-dip got on it:

Any reason you left the dip in the small areas? Think a toothpick and such would work to get it out

I would not put that dip crap on anything. Mask off your truck and paint them with real paint. It will not peal off like dip stuff does. I painted a set of black door letters red with automotive paint for my grill20171209_140711.jpg
