I’m looking to install black, clear lense, amber LED cab clearance lights. The truck has no mods other than carven exhaust. I’m wondering if anyone else has installed clearance lights on their 1500. I’m assuming the factory plug can only be found on the 2500 and 3500. All input is appreciated.

Although mine is black on black it’s not a night but I love it!

I wasn’t looking for black when I upgraded from a white express. I was actually looking for a white sport with 4x4 auto, leather, sunroof, mygig, and Alpine. The problem was the only one my dealer had was with the longer bed, so it wouldn’t fit in my garage. I was literally walking off the lot when my wife’s eye caught this one. She fell in love with it before I did and the dealer made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I never thought I would get into a blacked out truck but now I don’t see myself in any other truck lol.

So, honest question, what's the real purpose of clearance lights. I know some people simply like the look which is all good. But don't the clearance lights stick up over the cab which would theoretically lower your overall clearance? It's not like you can see the lights while driving. Maybe so you can get out and check the clearance in a dark area? Just a thought. Kind of like how actual parking lights aren't really relevant anymore. They were used way back when to stay on when you parked in a city environment when street lamps weren't common to ensure others could see and not hit your vehicle while drawing minimal power to prevent battery drain for a short duration.

They are a DOT item for vehicles 80” or more wide. The spacing(3 in the center, one on each edge) let’s oncoming vehicles know that they are approaching a wider vehicle.
On 1/2 ton’s, it’s mostly just cosmetic/personal preference.

Love it!

I wasn’t looking for this particular model when I upgraded from a white express. I was actually looking for a white sport with 4x4 auto, leather, sunroof, mygig, and Bose.
Thank you, I like the granite and white ones...love them!
